Not quite sure what would happen if you hit the brakes hard. The rear brake line valve is installed backwards.....

Vin 124379N674866

It's listed as Re-creation here...
http://www.classic-carauction.com/auctio...&lotnbr=166 (http://www.classic-carauction.com/auction_results_details.cfm??RequestTimeout=150&au ctionnbr=42&lotnbr=166)

But not here...
http://www.theelectricgarage.com/auctions/vehicle_details.php?auction_id=24&id=221

And on the subject of V.V. Cooke cars, was there originally a '69 Yenko, Cooke delivered car that was written off when new...or in transit?.
If so, was it Vin 124379N615313 ...or is that another car?.

One auction has it listed as automatic. The other has it as a 4 speed.

Shouldn't an 08D COPO have a D80 designation after the X44?

Then... not to be nit picky, but an 08D car should have the mylar VIN decal where the GM sticker is on the driver's door.

Just two things I noticed. Haven't looked close. I would assume recreation until shown otherwise.

Good catch Pete:

First ad also says purchased from the original owner who bought it new in Calif. POP on ebay shows original purchase living at 1853 Burwell in Louiseville KY. I suspect a non-existent address.

All show the same Vin 124379N674866
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Both Vins of the linked cars are listed in their auctions and the same as above..

The eBay Vin is not listed but the Vin of the documents shown in the auction are again this same Vin..

Just a thought...

I have an 08C 124379N X44 car (NON-COPO).

This above GOLD car is just over 1900 units after my VIN.

The trim tag numbers on the above GOLD car are around 4100+ units apart, after mine.

Nice Looking Car, though!!!

I would be interested to see where you got that information. Zillow.com shows the closest match as 1835 Burwell.

Are you sure it is a residential address?

The eBay auction ended w/ high bid @ $98,100.00 without meeting reserve..
Pretty strong money for a clone especially in the market of late so if the bids are genuine, it's doubtful the high bidders knew it's not an original car and the docs bs?.

This story certainly isn't over yet...I'm sure we'll see this car again!.

1853 Burwell is not a residential address. You can mapquest and get directions, but mapquest will take you to a non-existant address, just putting you in the same hundred block.

My guess is that Charles Rotell is also non-existant.

Guy's this car is going to auction next week about 1 hr from me , so I think I'll go up and see, but is the final verdict "Re-Creation " ? It sure appears to me that it is , and it's even had the TH400 swapped out for an M22 , ..same VIN 674866 ???? very strange listing, as their sure leaving the impression that this is a "Real COPO" !!! A few friends were telling me about the car today , and I though if anybody knows, it the SYC guys ! So Real or Clone ? Thx Bob

It was sold at a earlier auction as a clone so assume it is a clone. The attorneys will make money with this one. Has anyone informed the auction house that it was sold at auction as a clone ?

Here's the ad for the car in the upcoming 'Fall Finale' sale in Red Deer Alberta on Sept. 13/08..

http://www.theelectricgarage.com/auctions/vehicle_details.php?auction_id=25&id=221

Same 'Electric Garage' group offering the car again as previously on eBay and the way the ad is laid out suggests they know it's bogus but have intentionaly crafted the ad and wording to mislead and avoid the truth?.

So what next?.
Obviously not anyone's responsibility to do anything but here we all are knowing the truth and a week from now this car rolls across the block and most likely home w/ an excited new owner?.

Although notifying the auction group as Charley says would put them in a more liable position, could it possibly involve whoever did so in any legal mess that may follow?.
And to be clear, the car was previously offered as a recreation but not sold at the noted 2007 Palm Spring sale..

Can and should we here do more than be sure to clearly include the Vin of anything like this we do see and leave the rest to due diligence as Googling the Vin is now picking up this thread and a couple others that could point out the truth if someone bothered doing their homework first?.

Well hopefully the Electric Garage , does a stand-up job and Sells the car as a Clone or recreation, if not ,.....as Charlie said " lawyers are gonna have fun with this one " I'll let you know how it goes next week.

Funny that the ebay ad shows a 140 speedo, indicating the additional COPO 9737, but no 15" wheels. The D80 was an option, so the trim tag might not have it. Can anyone tell if this car has the bigger front swaybar, or the other F41 parts?

Good memory and great thought Andrew!.
Yes the bogus document guy is Brian Mallyon of Calgary...wonder if he's had anything to do w/ this car or the hokey docs?.

Checking back today Sept. 17/08 for results of this car's Sept. 13/08 auction, the previous links as above by the Electric Garage have been altered and now include the word 'Recreation' also there's no signs of the previously touted V.V. Cooke 'documents'?.

No idea when the links were changed, how the car was represented at the auction or if it sold...anyone from here at the sale?.
Lets hope the Electric Garage people changed things before the Sept. 13/08 auction date and represented the car as the Recreation it truly is...also destroyed the bogus docs!.

Obviously the no-sell eBay ad can't be altered and is still alive today showing pics of the hokey docs but will die out soon and the only text mentioning them is;
"...Documentation; V.V. Cooke Chevrolet, Louisville , KY to Charles Rotell, Louisville, KY..."

Anyone have a way to capture the eBay pics of the hokey docs and permanently include them here in this thread before they're gone?.

Here's an online article that notes the car valued at $150,00 and shows the Electric Garage President...a Mustang guy?!

Yes it NOW does and that's exactly what's noted above..
It didn't say that when viewing the links previously or when it was on eBay and included documents to make a fella believe it was an original Copo car.. These docs aren't shown or mentioned now but can still be seen if you click on the old eBay ad at the beginning of this thread..

I never made it up to the sale , Kids had a soccer tournament, but I contacted the Electric garage on Monday,....and asked about the car. The guy said it didn't sell , was available, and Did I want to make an offer on it ? Well I asked what the guywas asking , and was told that they wern't going to say but that they wanted me to place a bid and they'd let me know !! How stupid is that ,.....anyhow i asked if the guy really wanted to sell the car or not ? Is it a real COPO, I asked ? Now they weren't necessarily guaranteeing it now as a Numbers matching COPO !! I asked about the ad that I had seen for the past week or 2 stating a "numbers matching car " and he advised me that they now could no longer tell if the documentation was real or not !!! He says " He can't tell and wanted to know if I could ?" !!! Well long story short, to me it appears he's got that alheizimers condition a lot of sellers get when things don't quite prove out to be what they have said ? They can't remember, don't know, didn't do the work, I bought it this way ....etc etc etc.....Maybe I'm just a little too skeptical , but It's funny how the ad's have been changed and I'd love to know how they presented it in Red Deer ? Anybody go there ?
