Overall, what a FANTASTIC weekend. Late Thursday evening we had a Super light show from Mother Nature (along with a little drizzle) but the spirit of friendships was never dampened.

Some new iron appeared, some previously seen cars with new looks, and some familiar cars we NEVER get tired of seeing. Old friends, new friends, and the comraderie that has been made possible by this site.

I had so much fun on Thursday, Friday and Saturday that I actually never took any photos. There were so many folks with cameras and credentials that I figured my photos might not be missed. On Friday at the track I had the opportunity to take a passenger down the strip with me. It was her first time in a car on a dragstrip, and not only did I have to tell her that it was OK to take her helmut off after the pass, but that she could open the window too.

I am somewhat of a quiet person and I was somewhat overwhelmed so sorry if I was not more social!

I had a great time and the track was a blast.

What can you say about the sYc 11. They never cease to amaze me. I have never missed a single one, and I can tell you each one has, or has had its share of great moments and people, this one was no different. Its always great to see old friends return and meeting and making new ones. I really enjoyed my time with Grady Birch and Mike Angelo, to guys really geared to what I like for sure. Meeting Les Quam and seeing the 70 B/M again after an eight year lay-off was very exciting. Having to opportunity to show off three new restorations from SCW is always great. I can think of no better place.
It looks like Wednesday may be the new Thursday. More people than I ever remember showing up early. That's serious car show junkies right there. As usual the Clarys did a fine job of running the event, and I heard of NO problems at all. Thats just a testament to how great the system works. Neat cars, interesting people all with the same ideas in one place. I also had a great time... After 11 years of this, its become as much of a "friend reunion" as it is a supercar reunion. In all honesty, aside from PM's, e-mails, and posts, the SCR is the only time each year I really get to spend time hanging out with many of the people from this site I consider my friends. It's almost getting to the point that I look forward to seeing and speaking with so many people I have a hard time getting around to everyone I want to in the 2 or 3 short days we're all there...my apologies to anyone I didn't get a chance to chat with! The cars this year were great, lots of new ones I haven't seen before, some great new resto's by the SCW guys, Schoeney and others, some neat unrestored survivor cars I have never seen before, and some new faces that were SCR first timers.
I had fun doing the charity auction and helping out the ARS folks with the video filming. Kudos to all of you who donated or bid on items, as it's always a good feeling to know you helped a worthy cause.
Friday Nite Go-Carts with the Supercar Workshop gang was a blast... nothing like trading a little paint among friends...I say it every year, but I'll say it again, if you don't go anywhere else all summer you need to come to this event. It's totally unlike anything else you've ever experienced, and you won't go home disappointed. Thanks for Brian and Joe for once again helping to transport my memorabilia display halfway across the country and back, and hats off to the Clary's for putting on such a consistently great show, year after year. I can't wait til SCR #12...

I have been going to car events for 35 years (yeah I know, I am old) and I don't think I ever had more fun than this past weekend. Incredible cars and really warm, kind people. Unlike many other shows with rare and high dollar cars these guys actually drive the snot out of their cars and enjoy them. No gossiping and backstabbing just a fantastic group of people and cars and an extremely well organized event.

One of the things I enjoy about muscle car world is looking at the top restorers work. Todays present day restorers are creating handbuilt cars that equal the quality of any cars ever built. I had been wanting to see Brian Henderson's cars in person and hoped to have a chance to meet him and perhaps talk to him. He is a high profile restorer and you never know how accessible they will be especially to a complete stranger? I think he spent a couple of hours discussing his work with me and answering all my clueless Ford guy questions. His restorations are about the best I have ever seen and that includes the top Ford and Mopar guys. Just when I thought the top Ford/Mopar guys were meticulous when it comes to authenticity Brian takes it to another level. I thoroughly enjoyed getting an up close look at his artistry. His latest triple black COPO Camaro is extraordinary arguably one of the best ever done?

I had been reading about the Clary's in the magazines for years and couldn't wait to meet them amd watch them race their cars. Same goes for the guys with the other well known cars. It was amazing.

Colin had been encouraging me to come to a SCR for years telling me it was his favorite event of the year. He was 100% correct, just a near perfect event. Special thanks to Darren for helping me out and Cana for hauling my car down from Milwaukee. I will be there next year.

What I meant to say was I am eternally grateful to Colin for selling me the Phase III Motion Camaro, and owe him a debt of gratitude for being such a supportive friend. He made me go to SCR11 and not only hauled my car there but also got it prepped, aligned, and filled with race gas before it left Milwaukee. We had some minor teething issues with the B-M car at the track but with Colin and Darren's help we were able to get it all sorted out.

But most of all I'd like to thank Colin for showing me how to drive a go-kart so aggressively that I was ejected from the track Saturday night.

Also, a big thanks to George Pappas for coming up with the Tier/ Level system of rating Muscle and Super cars...had I only known about it sooner perhaps my collection would contain at least one Tier Level One car and not just all these Tier Level Two cars!

Oh, and I highly reccomend the chocolate butt cake my main man Phil and I were served at Bandana's BBQ.

As I wind down my long weekend I'd like to say that the reunions just keep getting better each year. Enough kind heartedness going around to put a permenent lump in your throat. Its really the main reason I keep coming back every year. The cars are great don't get me wrong but its truly the people that make the show what it is.

Special thanks to Les and Annie for trusting me with their prized possesions. As I told a few people, the Motion car has been a favorite of mine for a long time. (I am still trying to find a copy of the magazine it was featured in) I was happy with a ride along but when Les threw me the keys I'm not sure if he really understood how very special that offer was. I also wanted to thank everyone who made my wife and son feel so at home in Collinsville. As my wife is sort of on the shy side it was great to see her having a good time. Doug, Dennis, Vicki, Bruce &amp; Co. and others went out of their way to make sure my boy had a weekend to remember. So overall, they really enjoyed themselves.

And another big thank you to Bruce, Lin, Holly and Grandma for hanging out with us for the remainder of their trip. I think Bruce will have some more pics to post when he gets home later.

I'd like to add a couple of thoughts here as well...

I have always felt right at home since the first reunion that I went to...with Dennis Cumby introducing me to everyone. Seeing all of the amazingly restored, the survivors, the rarest of the rare...is worth the trip in itself. But for me...the real reason that I go is to have fun talking to and catching up with everyone.

This year I played a practical joke on everyone...telling all that I wouldn't be there (there were a few that HAD to know...but they are really good at keeping secrets http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

After getting smacked on the head by Annie...and getting the Cumby death grip on my arm (ala what he did to Darren)...I have learned my lesson....no more fibbing! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I could spend a ton of time thanking a bunch of people...but I will just name a few...

I have to say, the absolute highlight of the weekend was spending some really great time with Gavin, Holly and Caleb. Holly you teach a TON of people about looking at the brighter things in life and about going on with life as if tomorrow means everything. She actually brought tears to my eyes a couple of time as she really reached deep into my heart. What a fantastic young woman you have there Bruce and Lynn. Playing ball with her and Gavin Thursday night in the rain cannot be compared to. What an absolute blast for an old man! Thanks kids!!!!

I also had a great time talking to Caleb about his latest "project". A 1954 Chevy Bel Air custom. My very first car (that I never got to drive) was a 1954 Chevy and seeing photos of this car and what Caleb has done to it completely blew me away. This kid has definitely got talent! I personally would love to see more photos and think it would be great if his "old man" would start a thread in the lounge so we could all see Caleb's progress. Yet another time this weekend when a young person opened my eyes to our future and what is worth living for. Thanks guys!

mom was too nervous to take a still picture of his first pass but was able to manage to regain her composure for the time. they had trouble with the timing system so i couldnt get an actual 1/8th mile time but he kept his foot in it all the way thru the 1/4. i had the car come out of the hole real slow and then kick in about 200 ft out.

even though the chevelle developed an oil leak right after the burnout(bob mcclurg told me thurs.that the more smoke the better,hes shooting for super chevy) and was shut off, we had a great weekend getting dominic down the track.after each pass he made he asked me to go faster.i told him we arent here to go fast but to learn what to do,from staging to turning that 14 foot car off the track. im proud to say that he did everything exactly right.now maybe we can turm him loose a little bit more. see everyone at the fall vettefest!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
