I just bought this Camaro on a no reserve ebay auction from Georgia. I bought it to build a bracket car but the rear spoiler and Berger badge kind of intrigued me. I thought you guys might have some thoughts on it, especially the spoiler. Was this a Berger spoiler? Or did someone ffind some hokey spoiler and stick a Berger badge on the car? Thanks, Ed

Why would you want to cut up a nice looking car like that? Couldnt you find a S%$tbox 2nd gen to back half and make a bracket car out of seems a shame!

Not all bracket cars are S---boxes. NMCA, in it's early days had some Great Looking Cars. Spiro Pappas' Black 69 Camaro comes to mind. That car was beautiful! Anyway, the car is not as nice as it appears in the photos. I was just curious about the spoiler and the Berger badging. Ed http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Those 3 pc spoiler ends are NOT the correct 70-73 design, but the 74-??? 2nd design. You can see where they dont fit/look correct where meeting the qtr panel. The correct 70-73 came to more of a point. The center truck section was same on all 70-81 Camaro and not sure what year Firebirds.

PLEASE commucicate with ME, regarding all the misc leftover OEM parts you may have after building the drag car

Thanks

Ed, Sorry about that!
Didn't mean NMCA cars are junk cars, have been to many events some very beautiful cars. I just meant cutting up a not so nice car for a drag car. I guess its hard to tell what a cars like in pics!

Is the emblem bolted on or just stuck on w/3m tape? If it's just 3m tape and the screw heads in the emblem are fake then I believe someone recently stuck on a new Berger emblem.

You can buy the stick-on emblem from Berger Chevrolet for $11 + S&H.
Please, PULLEASE let me know if it was screwed on, and you want to let it go. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Chuck, Brian and Andy:

Thanks for your responses. I now know the spoiler is a later model type but I didn't think they were flat at the edge like this one. Regarding the emblem, it is stuck on and not screwed on. So, me and the Camaro are goin' racin'!

I'm forever restoring my cars with correct parts, A.I.R., Gardner exhausts, etc. Over the years, I have collected a ton of miscellaneous stuff around like MSD devices, 12-bolts, transmissions, headers, exhausts, etc. that I am really excited to build something that runs and not worry about a single part being correct. It also gives me a reason to search racingjunk.com and use my trailer for something other than toting trailer queens.

Nasblu: It is a pretty nice looking Camaro, that and the floor pans/sheetmetal/frame rails - caused me to buy it. While I have a ton of parts, paintwork is just getting too costly and I can't do it myself. So no harm - no foul.

Thanks again for all of your input and I think the Berger badge will look tough out at the drags, Ed http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Ed it sounds like you have a great car and I wish you luck in the transformation into a race car. Trailer queens are nice to look at but race cars are fun to drive. Mark http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Well said, Mark. Put an aluminium interior in it, don't scrimp on the roll cage, and drive it like you stole it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

It sure is a nice looking car. In my youth I back-halved a 1970 GTO and while it was a nice racecar, I learned that it's alot less expensive to buy one done than to build one. I still wish I had that car street legal and stock (Racing was a phase I went through).

Best of luck on your project, but it seems a shame to hack up another musclecar, when the classifieds on RJunk and National Dragster are already teeming with quality done cars for sale. I'd bet you could find a top notch turnkey car and spray it however you wanted for less than building a racecar from scratch...

Hi Ed, any chance this camaro has a 396 and 4 speed combo? My original 396 and muncie 4 speed from my 69 chevelle ended up in a car like this and ended up in Georgia. Thanks, Phil.

No, it's a small block turbo 350 Camaro. Sorry, Ed
