With Bob's permission I am asking everyone to stop for a minute and say a prayer for Bob. He has been diagnosed with a tumor in his neck area. Details are still being made with an operation and treatments to follow. Bob and Nancy really need our support with this. His e-mail address is [email protected]. His mailing address is as follow

Bob, Nancy and their daughter stopped by the shop the other day on their way back from the Springfield doctor's office. They are all very upbeat and have a very positive attitude and with God's help they will pull through this. Bob and Nancy have been huge assets to the hobby and now need our help.

Prayers for Bob and his family have been sent..

Although not all here may agree, prayers are a powerful thing and I'm not ashamed to admit God has without doubt helped myself and those close to me face and get through numerous serious experiences in life thus far...and we ain't done yet!.

For those of you that aren't sure who Bob is....He is Helen and Nancy Gibbs neighbor that brings them and their cars to all the events. You have probably met him if you stopped by any of the shows to say Hi to Helen or Nancy.
We are all pulling for you Bob.

Great people, as are all the folks from LaHarpe. I talked with Nancy Lionberger last week and, as Rick said, they are very positive about this. (And Pete, I'm sure Nancy Gibb and Bob and Nancy Lionberger will agree with you!)

All of our energies are focused on Bob Lionberger and Nancy Gibb. We need to get them both back up to speed quickly.
We're with you both. And you have our numbers! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Bob & Nancy are such an intricate part of, not only the Gibb Memorial Show, but the many other shows in which they have willingly gave of their time and efforts in helping to promote the Gibb name with their many contributions of the Chevrolet Muscle Car Performance. Prayers are extended for a most speedy recovery. Ray

With Bob's permission for me to post this, Bob, Nancy and their grandson just stopped by the shop with an update. It was not exactly what they wanted to hear but still very optimistic without going into too much detail. The doctors feel they can get a handle on it, it is just the way they may have to attack it that has them a little nervous as well as some potential side effects if the ulternative is taken. Please say a special prayer for them when sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and remember what we all have to be thankful for. They can use all the prayers they can get.

We had lunch with Bob and Nancy Tuesday and had a few laughs at Gov. Blago's expense. Bob's treatment plan has changed but he is comfortable with the Doctors and the proceedures. This is something new that is only being used in four facilities in the US at present. Bob has researched it himself and THIS is the treatment he prefers. SIU has brought world class technology and people to Springfield the past few years and Bob and Nancy are both ready to get going and get this behind them so they can get on with their lives.
Again, as Kenney Brown said earlier, I'm sure Bob would appreciate hearing from us. Bob's e-mail is [email protected]

Just a quick update on Bob L. The radiation (ARC) machine broke down last week, so Bob was only able to get ONE radiation treatment which also meant NO chemo treatment at all. He is headed back to Springfield, Illinois tomorrow to hopefully get to begin what would have been week 3 treatments, but will only be week 2 now.....PLEASE think of him as he is really fighting to beat this and tries sooo hard to be positive---it is frustrating when the equipment isn't working, but he is a FIGHTER !!! He really enjoys hearing from our Car Friends-(FAMILY)as he has to be in the hospital ALL week to be able to get this new type of treatments. "Thank You" to ALL of you who are helping him in this journey..... N.G. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nancy,

I guess I can ask Bob directly when we talk with him next but, does he have internet access at St. Johns? I'm making a run to Spfld in a day or two and plan to stop in and say Hi while I'm there; maybe do lunch again if they're available. I'll call and leave a message, or text them to see what their schedule is and if there's anything I can bring. (Maybe some magazines. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

I spent a good part of the day yesterday in Springfield at St. Johns Hospital with Bob and Nancy Lionberger. "OH MY" the routine he has to go through each week...Doctors, Doctors, Doctors, get re-admitted, get to your hospital room, getting hooked up to all of those tubes IV's etc. BUT, I got to witness first hand a PERFECT example of bravery and confidence! I have been in that position myself, but was in awe of the display of grace, gratitude, and kindness Bob showed to EVERY Dr., Nurse, aid, even the people that brought his food. I watched as he read with a smile on his face the emails many of you sent. Oh what a boost you get when you hear from a car guy or girl.....Friends, Family, Supporters, TEAM. From my old coaching years in Florida, WE play together as a team...we've got each others back...we can always count on each other...."THANK YOU" all for taking time out of your busy days to help Bob in this journey in any way that you have or can, and for allowing me to post these long posts.PLEAS know that if any of you find yourself in a situation like his, HE WILL BE RIGHT THERE!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR......N.G. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/youguysrock.gif

Nancy is absolutely dead on with her description of Bob and Nancy. We spent a couple of hours with them Wednesday afternoon. They were both napping when we arrived trying to catch a little rest from their busy schedule. But they both were all smiles within minutes and we had some laughs together. As usual, neither Bob or Nancy want to be any trouble to ANYONE so the Nurses and Doctors have to 'take charge' and make sure they have whatever they need. They're in good hands and their positive attitude will get them through this. One of the Nurses made that statement while we were there.
This was his second round of treatments and I got the feeling from Bob's conversation that the tough part is coming in the next couple of weeks. We're going to be there for them throughout the trip so we can all have a big celebration in a couple of months: everybody Happy and Healthy again,.............. Nancy Gibb included!

Oh, one more thing! Monday, January 5th is Bob and Nancy's 30th Wedding Aniversary. Let's load them up with "Congrats" messages! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

We stopped in to see Bob and Nancy again yesterday afternoon. Bob's brother and sister-in-law were there too. Bob had a chemo treatment earlier in the afternoon so he was pretty tired and his throat was sore and dry. We didn't stay long because he was trying to talk and it was obviously causing some discomfort. One more week of the chemo and radiation combination, then three more weeks of radiation only. Although the radiation treatments will be daily on weekdays, Bob is planning to do daily trips and avoid any overnight stays during this phase.
They're both in great spirits and always have big smiles for anyone who walks into the room. It's a very positive attitude from them and anyone we've talked with when we visit. It's still a serious situation but I honestly believe Bob is winning and will beat this. We're looking forward to Spring so we can all get back into the swing of things.
Please continue to send your Best Wishes and encouragement. These folks are worth our time, efforts and Prayers!

Sounds like they're focusing on keeping him hydrated after his episodes last week. And as for the nurses, I can't speak for all of them but I know his nutritionist. She grew up just down the street from me and was in my son's High School class. She's a doll!
They'll all take good care of Bob. He's a model patient! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Bob and Nancy stopped by at the shop yesterday and Annie and I were able to have a long relaxing conversation with them. All things considered, Bob looks great and his spirits were very high. Nancy was also in very high spirits though looking very tired. Two more weeks and they can both relax for awhile. It would be nice if Bob could eat or drink again as he has to get everything through a feeding tube. We will miss theirs and some of the other LaHarpe peoples visits but is sure has brought us closer to all of them. Heres to Bob's continued recovery! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I haven't posted for a few days, as the "NURSE" thing was kind of scarey to me http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif !!!!! BOB has treatments today(Wednesday), Thursday, Friday, and the following Monday Feb. 9th. We all need to go that extra mile, that extra burst, that extra prayer, to help get him GOOD results. Spring is coming soon, and we want to get ready for a great year with our cars, and our friends, and we all are going to think positive for BOB LIONBERGER, and BOB and VICKI ASHTON!!!! All super people in our hobby, and we need to and will continue to as each new day comes. Lets ALL THINK POSITIVE, and get our good friends through these tough times. Again, keep letting BOB, BOB, and VICKI all know we are there for them, and that something GOOD is going to come their way.....GOOD things WILL happen to GOOD people! Now for you TOM W. "thank you" for noooooo mooooore NURSE pictures! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Hey kwhizz, WHERE ARE YOU NOW ?!?! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I talked to Bob this afternoon at home. He said he was feeling a little rough but he sounded strong and MOST IMPORTANTLY, he said the Doctors are very pleased with his progress. His bloodwork last week was very good and after his LAST TREATMENT TOMORROW ( http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif) he will see his Doctor on Tuesday, then he's free for the rest of the week. Next week he starts the healing process.

I won't steal Bob's thunder; let's just say things sound good! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
