A few more old photo albums were pulled out at my parents house the other day. We figured it would be fun to post a few up here to share.

Here is another pic of the Ol' 57 at Vargo. A pic of this car not looking its best is rare so note the primer on the door as part of a repair. White rims on back for the sticky tires and Astro mags up front.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/primer57.jpg

Here are two pics of a friend/teacher from Spring Garden Institute (automotive college). I know the first name was Don.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/pinkpanther2.jpg

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/pinkpanther1.jpg

Another buddy, Bruce Kasper and his 32 Ford project form 1969 I believe.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/bruce32.jpg

There are some great pics of the girls from back in the day, this one happens to be my mom and her 68.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/eileen68.jpg

This is a 67 Nova 327 4 speed car he bought along with a 67 Camaro (below). Notice how they wanted to highlight the 327 with the extra art on the front fender.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/673274.jpg

The Camaro looks to be a convertible. Another 327 4-speed car with the obligatory mods of the day.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/67Camaro3274.jpg

I think the Nova and Camaro made room for this...

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/67Deuce.jpg

Turns out this one was a keeper. Here it is in 1993 still rocking out the T3 lamps.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/1993Nova.jpg

Flash forward a few more years and here he is happily working on a Firebird I found for a friend of mine in college. There's my 65 SS in the background.

they are great pictures. I remember Don Owens and Tommy Morata of the Pink Panther days. Bring back Vargo Dragway va-va-va-voomway! Your mom still looks that young. I saw her at the Lansdale Show!

Carried this in my wallet for 20 years before I took it out. Put it somewhere and found it another 20 years later.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/TS56chevy.jpg

Only drove it two days. 283 dual quads (AFB's), 3-speed with Hurst Mystery shifter and a 3.70 rear. Traded it to Ted Schwaggert (sp?) for the 57 seen above. Even-up but it included each of us keeping thier motor and trans. Ted had a 327 and a 4-speed. The 327 was all black was supposed to have been a "Jenkins Prepared" cira 1968.

When the 327 was still in the 57 it raced a 62 dual quad 409 SS and walked by it like it was racing a 283!

Found this out in the garage over the weekend. Back when I was a line mechanic at Coupe Chevrolet. Can anyone guess what year?

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/CoupeYard1.jpg

This here is a "Day 3" Tee handle. Day 1 it was bare aluminum. Day 2 it had a glover covering it in the winter and Day 3 got leather wrapped.

I remember when Greaser got that car painted like that. He raced my cousin and Ray Schurr in Rays Double 5 1955 Chevy in Modified Production. Bob Grasso also had that speed shop in Bristol??? with the guy that ran Sir Nomad. Grasso's brother had an anglia and Bob also had a Yenko camaro and a few other real nice cars. Saw Retribution and the Double 5 run in the mid 60's at Vargo!

Sam, that is when that picture was taken. Can you tell any more about the "55,s". I know this is about 1965,can you tell any more. I knew that would wake you up. Paul

I know many times that Bobby won between him and Ray and that the red lite was turned off when they ran. Ray left dead red one time and did not bulb so as to prove ray's thoughts. The good old days!! The Double 5 was a 265 inch motor with a cross ram type intake. Those cars ran mid 13's in that fashion. Grasso's parents owned the Sea Gull Inn in Jenkintown or North Hills I believe. Ray Schurr has passed away I think. Don White knew him from the Pontaic's he owned after the Sunoco gas station days in Warminister.

Just making sure I'm following. Ray Schurr = Ron Schoor pictured here:

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/ron2.jpg

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/dazedANDconfused.jpg

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/RonSchoor.jpg

As I recalled he owned a Sunoco station. Passed away, probably about 10 years ago. Every once in a while I would stop by and ask him for advice or help on something. Never hesitated to answer me to the best of his ability and I look back fondly of my encounters with him. I do remember though that I would always appraoch him with some reservation, much like I see most people behave around Grumpy Jenkins and probably for the same reason.

Ray Schurr from Schurr's Sunoco in Warminister kinda right across from the Warminister West Dinner. Your dad has got to know him!!!!

I'll check with him. This Ron has a station in Willow Grove, and I'm pretty sure it was a Sunoco- later 1960's.

Ray never ran a bracket car. He quit I believe after the 55 Chevy days. I would say he would be about 68 or so today.

My pop corrected me, the guy I posted Ron Schoor had a Shell station at Fitzwatertown and Welsh Rd. Near the Dunkin Donuts that is there today. This is just up the road from Ron Ruth- known for his 62 "Get Around" 409- another fellow from the Vargo Days.

Strange how similar they names were in the same area and around the same time.

I remember Get-a-Round at Vargo. Shame Ronnie Ruth is not with us anymore. That car did a lot of hoping around with that suspension. Probably would have went faster if he controlled the rear hop some. Car did run well though.

I'll have to find some better pictures of my Mom's 1972 Vega GT, but if you look past all of us it's there.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/PxTx/VegaGT.jpg

We would climb all over everyting that was in the driveway and there was a lot of cars that passed through.

Here is the one of the early "Plowman" rigs circa maybe 1979. Funny how 15 years later guys I grew up wiht were telling me they always wanted a tuck like my dad's black 1977 Ford. This was before "Bigfoot" hit the scene.

We've been trying to get together for a few months now, and this week was good for both Dave Moran "67 Nova Boy" and I to meet up with the Grump. Thought some of you might like to see that things are still going strong in Malvern.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Grumpy/GrumpyDay142.jpg

It was pretty cool for Grump to come out in the cold- it was actually snowing- and talk to Dave about some upcomming motor work.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Grumpy/GrumpyDay143.jpg

I also couldn't leave without revisiting an old conversation we've had on these old Tunnel Rams and some tricks- more to come later!

You can see a bit of the shop, but don't want to broadcast all the "stuff" on benches.

I want to thank Plowman and his side kick {wife} for helping this day happen for me. The navagation was dead on up and back...even in the snow! <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/3gears.gif I figured it had to snow as it seemed like it would never come true but it was ALL and then some of what I thought it would be like. Thanks PXTX for posting the pix as I'll add a few of the things he singed for me.

----Wow! You are so lucky. What a great day. The first time I ever had a chance to sit down with Grumpy was down in Virginia at a nostalgia meet (circa 1993/4) where he was one of the special guests. It was one of Frank Spittles get togethers. Back at the host hotel after dinner a bunch of us were all sitting around in the lobby swapping lies. The Grump was way more interested in discussing certain aspects of a womans anatomy than racing, and was laughing pretty much straight thru. It was easy to see him in a much more human way that night than reading about him in a magazine. Hes just another gearhead, albeit a very, very talented one!.....Bill S

I had a nice surprise visit today from Dave and his 67 Nova and another old friend who with a familiar 66 Nova.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/DSCN3983_zps19fddfe1.jpg (http://s710.photobucket.com/user/Plowman7/media/Plowman%20Scans/DSCN3983_zps19fddfe1.jpg.html)

So there is a thread which will need to bump to talk more about Dave's Nova but here are a few pics.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/ww101/Plowman7/Plowman%20Scans/DSCN3981_zpsab706192.jpg (http://s710.photobucket.com/user/Plowman7/media/Plowman%20Scans/DSCN3981_zpsab706192.jpg.html)

Now the 66 Nova here I helped another old friend build several years back. I did not know he was considering selling the car, but I'm thrilled that it's gonna be a lot closer to me now. What is even nicer is that another old friend Andy bought it because I have many great memories working with Andy on a 66 Nova he had a long time ago. It felt like old times again!
