When I bought my '69 Z/28 back in 1996 it had on the rear plate a metal frame, black background with white lettering, that said: PARTICIPANT on the top and on the bottom Super Chevy Sunday. Can anyone tell me what exactly this license plate frame might refer to or what it means. Thank you.

I do not remember seeing the frame but I have one of the plastic plates that say the same thing. These were available at any of their many Super Chevy Sunday car shows around the country.

Super Chevy used to give those out to anyone who entered their car at a Super Chevy event. Should be an old piece. I don't think they have called it S.C.Sunday in a long time.
Does anyone know when they started these events?

Funny, I went three years in a row with a car and they never gave one to me!

I believe it was 1980 in Indianapolis but would have to dig out my Super Chevy magazines to verify. The very first event we drove to was SCS in Indy in 1983 and went the following two years as well.

I remember them giving out the frames at events they had at Bristol. Came in a plastic bag with some other goodies.

How about a tag"NONE",all forms and questions never show up. Tickets printed documents with a list of questions and spaces for answers to be filled in,do not show up.

I remember when bikers used to have that on their shirts or a decal on the bike.

I'm going to use this one.

Wonder how much of this stuff is still floating around out there. Somewhere I have a T-shirt and coat as well. Long, long time ago.

I, too remember the "Super Chevy Sunday" theme/name. It was some time ago. I raced at several events in the '80s at Maple Grove and NEVER got a tag or a tag frame. Honestly, I'd have to look and see if I have any paperwork (very doubtful) to verify if it was "Super Chevy Show" by then. I know we practiced on Friday and eliminations started Saturday. I usually made it to Sunday, but never won any real money; the purse was NOT the reason we all raced!

They used to run Super Chevy Sunday events back at Seattle International Raceway (now Pacific Raceways) here in the Seattle area back in the mid to late 1980's. I remember going and getting one of those license plate frames.

They stopped one year and it changed to Super Chevy Show, with the rumor being that the organizers of SCS having skimmed off some of the revenues and not accurately reporting or sharing them with the track owners.

Used to be a fun event. I went to the Super Chevy Show weekend back in about 2000 or 2001 and entered my '62 409 Bel Air in the show. They had really nice big trophies, but the judges were all sponsors who chose the winners, so of course you had a lot of hair salon and restaurant owners choosing the "shiny red one" when asked what their favorite car was....

I had one Kevin but I had such a bad experience at their event I tossed everything when I got home and never went to another one. It wasn't CC that PO'd me; it was the cops in Indy. They would beat on your fender with their night sticks to get you moving through traffic. I also got a night stick in the back of my neck when I decided to Walk rather than Run from their police/dog line. I turned around and looked at him and the dog. With fire in his eyes he said, "Just try something, please just try something".

The first Super Chevy Sunday events were just that --> Sunday only events. The first ones were run twice a year at Orange County International Raceway (OCIR) in Irvine, California, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. I believe the first year was 1980. It ran at OCIR until it demise in 1983. I Think it went nationwide that year.
