Anyone have an idea as to value on the 50 1968 428CJ Mustangs? I have no idea and no recent comps to compare.
Thank you.

Most of these were campaigned. So, race history a plus. Notable driver/owner a plus too. Orig drivetrain? Way cool cars - very quick!

One of the 135's was in MCR or HMC with pictures as found. Raced with low miles, a real gem.

Find that article as it had the new owners name and possibly it had a Mustang experts name that could be called for opinion?

By memory some were ordered minus seal sealer and the one the mag was without SS.

yes, there was a 30/20 split on the seam sealer application, just don't remember if it was 30 with the sealer or 30 that didn't get it.

Mark Bulaw with a FORD??? The world would stop rotating if that happens. Remember....Friends do not let Friends drive Fords! Just kidding, that would be a Hell of a find. Good luck Mark.

30 of the vehicles were assembled with seam sealer and sound deadener (noted by DSO code 844660) and 20 were built without seam sealer and sound deadener (noted by DSO code 844661).

The value range is not really based on comps rather who has one available at the time and what 2 parties can live with. I am heavily into the 68.5 as well as 135 cars and would say the range is 150-500 today based on cars I know and have been following/involved with. 4 of the 6 Winternationals cars were "117" series cars which were S and J codes converted to 428 CJ would add to the 50 and certainly be of just as much value. Some of the 135 cars have no race history and were just privately owned. If you need any help on a particular just ask and can likely get you more history on it.

Thanks to all those who helped in regards to this Mustang. It was purchased from the second owner who bought the car in 1971. It still has the paint job from when it was raced by the original owner through the selling dealership. A nice original never cut up car that will be receiving a full restoration in the near future.

I have a thing for these early SCJ's, keep us in the loop.

If I had a second musclecar a clone of on of these bad boys would be very high on the list. Please Don't Tell my Chevy Buddies.

FWIW, it's not a SCJ. The Drag Pack wasn't introduced till 1969.

It's in good hands thanks Mark. The SCJ "Warranty Pak" was introduced because of the previous year high axle cars. Ford was clevor enough to turn it into a marketing money maker. Heavier reciprocating mass and add ons to keep the heat down thus warranty claims

"Full Restoration"?
Are you going back to white or keeping the vintage race car paint (I vote for the race car paint) <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Not a fan of the "bass boat" paint jobs - get out the white paint and give her back her dignity.

I would love to see it stay "as is" with a refreshed drivetrain. Restored cars are great but survivor race cars and customs are far and few between. Super cool car and I would love to have it!

I agree.

Dignity is overrated, have fun now and go for pure white some other decade.

The 135 car is coming West this week and will remain unrestored for now. The BJ car belonged to a friend and is regular production 68.5 GT R code.

Is this 135 car going into the registry?

Very good website, with a link for every serial number of the first 50.

The prior owner contacted the registry and a photo was submitted for 33. It was updated last Wed with some bio to go with. I am currently writing the story for 135008 so it will be another with some history. Certainly we will never account for all of them but making a good dent in the project

That's what I was wondering, which of the 50 is this one.

Very cool.

I got to visit 028 yesterday. It was purchased from the original owner. I think it may be the only one still sporting almost all of its original paint.

Quick, easy to follow account of how the 428CJ program was inspired and subsequently developed, how the 135 cars came to be, and some good photos documenting why the Wimbledon White 135 cars are so iconic to some of us-Ford's 8 car assault at the 1968 WInternationals. It was really a seismic shift in Ford's presence in the drag and hot street scenes of the late '60s.
