Currently, these are the three in my "stable". The race car is pictured at Capitol in 1969 and at the York reunion. I apologize for the quality of the photos, but they are from my phone and my computer skills are "limited" at best. I have more of each car if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Does anyone know if you could order the ram air hood on a non 442 (Hurst Olds aside)?

You could in 1970 on a SX or Cutlas S, in 1971, you could also order on a Cutlass S. 1972 you could order on any 2 door body style.

Info is from Salesmans pocket guide.

Hey Canuck, please tell me/us more about your W-30s. Does the '66 have any race history? What number is it?

It was a Members Ride quite a while ago when it was owned by Paul's friend, Gene <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif Click here to read all about his 1 of 54 442's! (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/228444/1)

Those wheels are the new "Hurst Dazzlers". The appearance is somewhat similar to the original Hurst 5-spoke wheels, but these are all aluminum and one-piece. 15x7 in front and 15x8 in rear.
Also, thanks for the link to the '66 W-30

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Sometime soon, I'll get together some other pics of these cars and submit it all for "Member's Rides". I've had a whole lot of Oldsmobiles (in addition to many, many others) over the years, but the Green '72 and for sure the '69 W-31 race car aren't going anywhere any time soon. The article in "Muscle Car Review" says it all about the racer.

Carb covers are Salmon tins, drill a hole and they are a perfect fit

I just saw your car on eBay. Is it the first of the 54 built? Shroud #18? Race history? I love the car and wish you all the best with your sale. Once again, next weekend I will be on a cruise ship heading to the Caribbean instead of a big-bird heading to MCACN!

ALL 54 were assembled first three weeks of June 1966. This car has a 6A build date but there were only 3 work days that week. The car was delivered to first owner June 6. The shroud number has no relationship to car build date. Shrouds were numbered because they were hand drilled for screws and then the top was sent out for plating. The frame on this car was drilled both sides for the battery cable, the only one Curt Anderson ever saw, likely frame #1 as line workers were not familiar with process. Remember all frames usually traveled assembly line upside down.
In Curtis research on 29 of the known 54 cars, this is the earliest serial number.
No formal racing history, just Saturday night stuff.

I will just share this on your tread. The only pic I have(for now)of my first car. November of 1988,I bought a local beat down hot rod named "Blue Max" a 67 Cutlass Supreme 330,2 speed black roof and interior. I paid $200 for it,I pop riveted in some floors, put some house carpeting and van seats in it,and fixed the front brakes, and drove it for about a month before deciding that I bit off more then I could chew on a kid's budget. I cut it up and kept the engine and trans. I am now looking to restart the dream of my youth. My mother took this pic,and recently found it and gave it to me. I would be willing to bet that there are more in her box of pics,or at least the negatives for more, but I dont want to bother my parents for it right now. Here is the best I can do. Me at 17,with my 80's metal hair, working on my first hot rod.

BTW,I can from a LONG line of good Olds guys. My grandfather had many Oldsmobile 98's,my father's half brother who I didnt really know raced rocket 88 powered 53 Oldsmobiles years before I was born,my parents owned 3 different 67 Olds 98's when I was growing up,one of which came from my grandfather, and my parents owned varios other Olds' over the years. The 67 98's were what sold me on wanting a 67 Cutlass for my first car and wanting to seek out one of those strong running 425's for it's power.

With some Cragars

I bought (my wife gave them to me as an XMas gift) a set of the alloy Magnum 500 style (Olds SSI) wheels from the Parts Place to try on the Yellow '72 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. I'm hoping to mount them up this weekend. I'll be sure to post some pics and solicit opinions. So far, I like the Cragar SS over the factory SSII and whitewalls. Ideas and opinions are welcomed.
