Probably was passed by no one in the entire 6000 miles! Can you imagine how much gas was used? <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/shocked.gif

850-1000 gallons. It's all highway mileage.

4.56 gears? I bet he got passed ALOT! That family asleep in the 428 Pontiac wagon while dad got his foot into the 4 bbl. and 3.08 gears up to 110 mph would blow right by him <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

Gas stations were few and far between on the Alaska highway. Where did he store the Gerry Can for the extra gas he needed between the stations?

I had a 56 Chevy in the 70's with 4:88's and did a weekend trip from Detroit area to Toronto with a few of my General Motors Institute buddies. No BB but a 68 Z28 302 and Rochester Fuel Injection. Got 19 mpg at 4200 rpm ... that car LOVED rpm ...

Love to see the tank sheet for this Fathom car a being a '69 factory shipped w/ 4:56 axle, shouldn't this be a Copo 9511 car?
Remember this Yellow L88, claimed to be the only Copo L88...

If you ordered an L88, you were able to get it with a 4:56 axle if that's what you wanted.

My '70 GTO was apparently driven from Indiana to Florida when it was new or close to it. That's a long ride with 4.33's.

Closest I came to that was when I had a '66 L72 Corvette coupe with 4.11's, side exhaust. It was my daily driver in 1996-1997 when I was going to school in New Orleans. Not much fun on the highway.

I run 88's in my Chevelle. Have a 255/60 rear tire and no overdrive. Luckily the small journal 327 likes to rev.

No disrespect on the modern car/truck, but I just don't think they are the same. How tall are those tires and how deep is the overdrive? What do you think you tach running down the road at 65mph? I appreciate the way modern cars run, but sometimes i resent them too. Today you can have 500hp with less than 8 cylinders, get good mileage, excellent road manners and change plugs every 100k and oil every 15k!
