Anyone know this car ? I don't see anything stating any work was done to it at Nickey. Has Nickey inspected it ? Is it just a Camaro sold at Nickey Chevrolet ?

Awesome looking car!
Ask Mike, he's a Member here who advertised this Burnished Brown car last year.

Looks great. But, um, what is it? Or maybe, more importantly, what WAS it? There's nothing in any of the pics that says this wan't just some 307 cid car some school teacher bought from Nickey Chev in '69, and remained that way until very recently. Hopefully Mike will chime in...

Saw it on his website last week along with another 68 Felix 427 Camaro.

Guess this weeks flavor for restored cars are 427 powered 68's. Wonder how it'll do at auction. <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif

I spoke with Mike as well as the auction house. No one wants to mislead anyone. There was a bit of confusion, mainly because of the use of the term "NicKey" Camaro in the CHP certification.

NicKey Chevrolet sold many Camaros but only a very few were NicKey Camaro Super Car conversions.

I blelieve that we have one documented 1969 NicKey Camaro and that is the L88 conversion owned by Kevin Suydam. There are a few that we inspected over the years which we believed could be conversion cars and opinion letters were written for those particular cars.

This Camaro was sold new at NicKey Chevrolet in Chicago. It has history of being an old race car.
It may indeed have been a conversion NicKey Camaro, but there is nothing which exists at this point to prove this. Mike spent lots of time and money restoring the car to a very high level including many appropriate Day II parts and the way he would have ordered his very own NicKey Super Camaro.

I trust this clears things up.

I see Jerry M's report says RPO ???? The Nickey sticker/emblem is conveniently covering the RPO number... anyone know what that says??
Was it a Z-28? also, why are the engine codes on the protecto-plate and the window sticker not shown in the ad?? What was it originally ?

Probably because it was a non-performance variant, i.e. 307, 327

I thought it was determined to be a LM1?

Hey guys, I wish it had some conversion docs...I spoke with Stefano a few times on the car over the last few years about dealer built cars, catolog cars and owner converted cars. Like Stefano said these cars are very special cars if they have some supporting conversion docs. I know it's not much to go on being just a cool old big block street/strip car with old mods and speed parts. I got Jerry to come out and inspect the car, got him to verify all hidden vins, tags and original paperwork. It is a very cool day II car and is a Nickey Chevrolet sold 1969 Camaro. It was a base model V8 Sport Coupe, has the non-style trim X44 which doesn't say much on cowl tag...cool it was ordered with a 4 speed, the car was built 05A and the base engine and on Protecto Plate was RPO-LF7 307. The original color was code 57 S Fathom green with green vinyl top and code 711 black buckets on trim tag and window sticker. Thanks, Mike

With the increasing interest in Day II cars, I'm thinking that this car will probably do pretty well at Russo regardless of it being a verified conversion car or not? It's a cool looking car with all the right look and colors, as long as the car is not being misrepresented as anything but a Nickey sold car when it crosses the block.

Somebody will want to own it and add it to their collection. GLWS Mike
