Making my annual visit to the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee. Not as excited as I was last year but still a lot of nice cars to look at for sure! Anyone here going?

I'm not as excited about attending as I was last year. All those Hemi convertibles as well as the Wayne Schmeeckle collection at one auction will be hard to beat in my opinion.
I am looking forward to getting away from the snow and cold weather here in Canada!

There is no doubt that this years lineup, especially for Friday and Saturday are mighty impressive. Between Don Frezell's cars and parts, Tommy Lembecks cars, Gary Runyons cars, Tim Wellborns Mopars and so many others, there are plenty of prime offerings!

Looks like the sales rate so far is strong and the market appears pretty strong for good factory stock cars. In fact, there are a few that have sold that must be world records, although not on the highest dollar cars!

Kissimmee is not showing any love for the LO23 and BO23 Hemi cars.............kinda shocking.

I was watching this car in particular

One of my friends owned the car when we were younger and I have a real soft spot for it.

----There were so many great race cars that I don't think there were serious customers for all of them. Fezell let "the bid goes on" activate on probably 7 or 8 cars. By the way he had 35 in the auction......Bill S

Did any of Tom Lembeck's cars sell? Looks like all of them (hemi's and W30s) went to Bid Goes On.

Could it be the market is slowing down? Interesting to see what happens at Scottsdale this weekend.

I don't believe any of his cars sold when they crossed the block.

Hey Kenny do you mind if I ask what you took to the auction and if they sold or not?

I watched quite a bit of the event, and looked at most of the results. To me it looked like a very strong market. The sell through rate was high, and cars with reasonable reserves for their condition all seemed to have spirited bidding.

A friend at work was telling me about a car he saw go across the block during the Kissimmee 2017 airing on TV. He says it was a bright blue 1971 'Cuda 440+6 car that had some type of special hood. Says the car was bid to $600+ and didn't meet the reserve. I looked through the online catalog for that auction and couldn't find anything that matched that description.

Was anyone there who can tell me what car that was and what was different about the hood? He said it wasn't a shaker hood and wasn't the dual snorkel hood. Claims it looked like a "reverse cowl induction" hood whatever that might be. I was thinking maybe an AAR type hood; who knows?

Are you sure he wasn't talking about the black with blue interior 1970 440+6, shaker hood ragtop? It was the only Cuda that bid up to that price frame, and this one bid to $875K.

I showed him that car and he swore it was a hardtop and blue inside and out; I think he must have been smoking something.
