Vaccuum solution???

Looking for best solution for chevelle that has big cam motor and little vaccuum. Brake pedal needs tremendous pressure to stop vehicle and mot much travel... looking for best way to remedy without compromising original appearance as much as possible.

I have run manual disc / drum brakes on a couple vehicles with no issues. Manual pedal pressure is WAY less than low vacuum power brakes. And the pedal is always consistent with manual not hit and miss like Big cam power brake combos.

Another option is hydroboost but stock appearing is lost there.

X2...manual Disc/drum is best to keep original appearing look.

They DO make an electric vacuum pump to help that will work as it makes vacuum when needed. A canister type tank like Moroso will only store vacuum not make it. Run a vacuum line to the vacuum pump and will help. They do make alittle noise when in use but with that bad ass cam ya might not here it!

Takes some creativity to hide, but they work well--only thing to be cautious of is that you only get 2-3 "pumps" on the pedal before the reserve is depleted. Once it sees a high vacuum situation again it will be replenished.

I bought a vacuum pump from the rightstuff brake company a few years back. hidden under the front fender. works great.

The sbc I just installed in my 68 has a pretty big solid roller and only makes 6"-7" of Vac so I chose to install a CVR Racing electric pump. I went with their VP-555 model and now have adjust-ability to make 12" to as high as 22" of Vacuum using this pump. It's kind of bulky so I installed it in the front fender well of my 68 and tucked it in behind the battery. So far nobody has noticed in there at all and it works great.

Power brakes are a must for me and I can stab them as often as I like and not a single concern whatsoever. I did talk to the tech guy at CVR in Ontario and he told me there's a smaller model which works just as well. Here's a couple pics and a video link.

No relays or anything required. Just a trigger, 12V batt connection and ground.

Keeps the engine bay clean and supports all large cams that lack vacuum

Once hidden away, nobody really sees it unless I tell them it's there. This shot is to show you where it can be seen when you really look for it, but so far nobody has spotted in behind the battery unless I told them it had a pump.
