I just received some pictures from my friend and was so struck by this pair together I thought I'd share. These two are members of the McKay collection here in Washington. Both are unrestored, original paint cars. Both are also GT's with 390/4 speed drivetrains. The white on black car is a 1966 model with 19k original miles. The red on red car is a 1967 model with closer to 40k original miles, IIRC.

The redlines really set them off as well.

----One of the few Fords that I really like the lines of. The 4-speed GTs are hard to find too. Those are some nice rides. Not especially fast but pretty damn cool!.......Bill S

I love those cars. I've had a few '66 GT, GTA and 500 XL cars. Never anything really nice. They all needed quite a bit of work. I'd love to have a nice one. Here is a sad story. I had a chance several years ago to buy a '66 GT that had a '67 medium riser 427 in it. The car was really nice and the 427 was still complete except for the exhaust manifolds. I had the guy down to $5,000 but I was trying to get out of debt at the time and had to pass. That is the car that I regret letting go more than any other.

I always thought those were really good looking cars. Nice lines, classic style. Very nice!!!

I much prefer the '66, but the '67 is much rarer.

The redlines really set them off as well.

I totally agree. Never understood why Ford did not use redlines on their muscle cars (with the exception of the dual band redlines on the 1965/1966 K code Mustangs - and as an option on the V8s).

The whole industry was using redlines on their muscle cars in the mid to late 1960s except Ford.

Very sharp, thanks for sharing! My brother-in-law has a 67 GT/A convertible, not as nice as either of these two, but a nice driver and an unusual sight to see.

I posted these pics on Fordfe.com yesterday, and got this within a few hours:
"Hello. The white one is my old car, I sold it to a guy in Harlan, IA about 17 years ago, Rodger Sorenson.

The Dario Ford badge on the trunk makes it easily identified to my eye, from the original dealer (long gone) here in Dorchester, MA.

That car came from Boston, Massachusetts, and obviously never spent a day in the rain or snow.

I sold it to Rodger after the birth of my second daughter. It had just over 17,000 miles on it at that time.

I will post some other pictures of it later tonight.

Seeing that car has made my flippin day, thank you very much.

I can tell you that I had a monster 351c that I had built for another project, and it KILLED me not to take that car apart and hot rod the tar out of it, as it was drag raced from day one.

When I got it in 1998, the car had 13,000 miles on it, a trunk mounted battery, and a full compliment of Stuart Warner Green Line gauges installed, including a Tac that was mounted right in the the middle of the speaker area on the top of the dash.

The mounting hole was plugged with a black plastic door panel retention clip and was still there when I sold it.

Mike Howard."

You gotta love the internet :)
