JoeC:

Where was that Chevelle you called about in NJ located? The guy that said he had TONS of paperwork, and that only cars that were sold in Canonsburg were true Yenkos? I want to say it was listed around 100K? Wasn't it a Yenko?

You would think he would have been able to at least copy the correct spelling of off the emlems or stripes! DOH!

This car has been for sale in hemmings at least three time in the last 5 years. The owner seemed paranoid and evasive when I asked specifics on the car. The owner was a real know it all.

Tom - appears to be the same car we spoke about before. That car popped up for sale a few times in Hemmings for 100k. I called on it a few times over the last 10 years but the owner would provide no numbers and not much info on it. I tried to at least get the rear end code to see if it was a COPO but I think he wants you to buy the car and check it later. He said it was a race car built by Yenko but two ex-Yenko employees I spoke with could not recall anything about it. The stripes and rear emblem placement look non-Yenko but I believe he said it was repainted. I would like to see his documentation.

I have spoken with this guy a few times as well, what a handfull!! 'I plan to retire with the money from this car, it is worth way more than my asking price' he says!! 'Only three were built, just for racing. These cars were built by Yenko's special race mechanic' - he rambles on and on....'no, you cannot see my extensive paperwork - you might not buy the car' - click.

(boy howdy!!)

I have spoken with the guy and found that he is a real jerk. I was calling to get info on the car for the sYc. He preceded to tell me how great his car was, and how it was one of only a few "real" Yenkos, since it was sold out of Canonsburg and was "raced prepared". He went on to say that all other Yenkos were just plain cars with stripes. He will tell you that he is the "only real Yenko expert", and you know nothing. The car may very well be the "real deal", but I have not wasted any more time on it. Tom

Well, since noone has bid on it yet, they fixed the spelling of Yenko. :)

No underhood pics.
I like the part:
Seller will allow inspection upon a deposit.

So I have to decide that I am buying it before I look at it?? Go pound sand!

Rob,
The car's location on E-bay was listed as Trenton,New Jersey. Trenton is the state capitol,it is located on the west side of the state,at the half way point.Trenton is on the Delaware River, right across from Pennsylvania. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is about 25-30 miles south of Trenton. I always find it interesting when a car owner says that it was "built to be a race car". I have never heard of the car to have run at Raceway Park or at Atco, and they are the two closest tracks. I am always leary of individuals who will not share paperwork and who are "going to retire" off of the sale of the car.
Andrew
P.S. The area (Trenton) neighborhood that the photo was taken in is very well known for car theft and it seems very strange that you would park a $100,000 car on the street.Use caution something doesn't sound right.

All you guys are just too suspicious.
Don't any of you have a little "faith"?

Just think, you could end up with the only one of it's kind...a Yanko and Yenko chevelle...what a "find" that would be.

Ha Ha.

Guys, I sent them an email last night, and here is how they responded:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Sir,
The seller advised us that this car is documented & registered. He is not releasing the vin#
or documentation until a deposit & inspection are set up.This is his personal request.

We would love to help & the seller guarantees that the car is real & authentic.

Call us <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Is there a "Yenko Club of America"?
Here is the reply I recieved;

The seller does not want to give out the VIN number or Tag ID numbers because he does not want the car to be tracked or duplicated. Seller guarantees that this car is a Yenko Chevelle and has all paperwork to back this statement. The car is even registered with the Yenko Club of America. Thank you for your consideration.

As you will see, the Yanko has been pulled. After reading that it had been registered with the Yenko Club of America, which we assumed meant us (sYc), we contacted them and told them the truth, that we HAD NOT registered the car. We went on to say that yes, we had spoke with the owner, but had several concerns in regards to it being legit. We do not like doing this, but do feel, until the owner comes clean with paperwork, etc., it cannot be considered legit. Tom

I talked to this guy about a year ago and was going to go look at the car, but it never fit his schedule. He would not give me the VIN. PS He knows all about yank-offs.
