We had a small but very good turn out for the Canonsburg Yenko get together. Mark Kickel brought his Hugger Orange 69 Yenko Camaro. Gary Baker brought his Cranberry Red 70 Yenko Deuce, R.T. Bell brought out his original paint Royal Plum 67 Yenko modified Camaro that he bought new and I brought out for the first time in over 25 years my new Daytona Yellow 7000 mile original paint Yenko Camaro.. We had a nice display of Yenko memorabilia on hand and had a chance to visit with many of the old employee's and other people that knew Don Yenko and his family. The weather was perfect. We drove the cars over to the old Yenko dealership for some retro pictures. The Steeltown Corvette Club was on hand and took some pictures of our gathering and have them posted on there web site. You can link over from the Registry and check them out. Thanks to all the people that helped out on this effort.

Brian:
Very cool photos on the Corvette site! Any discussions with former Yenko employees? Any leads on cars stashed away in the hills? Did anyone tell you that at least one of the three Yenko cars there had to be a fake? (When we had three Yenko Novas at the New Hampshire Super Chevy Show, there were many people that insisted that at least one was a fake - they usually picked the one that was most original!)

Whenever we updated the page this morning, we added a link to the pictures of the "Canonsburg Cruise", and a short description of events under the "what's new" heading, so anyone interested can either follow that link, or this one: http://steeltownvette.com/yenko.htm

Looks like a good time was had by all!

We had many conversations with people that worked there, including mechanics that did the engine changes on 68 Camaros and stories about the race car DX Corvettes and Donna Maes Stingers. Nobody questioned any of the cars on hand. This is a tough crowd in Canonsburg and the people know what they are looking at. On gentleman bought a 67 Z/28 from Yenko that was one of 3 that was at the dealership. His was a red one. He told us that it had been crushed after years of abuse. We also heard stoies about the cars that were raced at Pittsburgh International Dragway or PID. The gathering was small but was very interesting. Everyone had a great time. People are looking forward to having a bigger and better show next year. We will have to see if this will grow into something that people are interested in. Maybe a Super Car Registry show for all makes in the future? We will have to see what the Clary's have in mind.
