Where were you...and where was your white COPO? /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif
It was great to see John P. again.
Always fun to talk with him. /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif
Billy (L78Impala) was not there as he said he would.I wish he could have made it,also a nice guy.
August 25th at Larry Roesch Chevrolet, sounds interesting as a few of us are going to go.
August 28th,is Chevy night in Elmhurst.I will aim for that date.John says both cars are going to be there.
Can you make either of these dates?

Stefano

Stefano, are you bringing one of your copos? If you are I think I will make a special trip to Lombard after work just to see that bad boy! I heard that Elmhurst had a big showing this week. Also friends of mine told me that Lemont had a HUGH showing of 450 cars. Last night I was at the Downers Grove cruise night and saw a beautiful 1969 Camaro SS L78 convert, 4 speed, in Daytona Yellow. The guy had a sign on his car that said he was looking for an unrestored copo, I told him about this site and refered him to you and he said he already knew you. His name is Brian S.

Rick I can't believe your treasure actually saw light! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif I think I will stop at the Larry Roesch show with my Chevelle. I want to see yours outside and not in a garage!

How many of Chicago area syc members will be at Super Chevy in Joliet this weekend? If any of you come I will be in the Monte Carlo section having my 86 SS judged. Please come by and say hello.

Frank,
I am glad we had a chance to meet in person. Next time I hope we hook up a little earlier. The crew in the Olds Rallye 350 behind me was my wife and 2 Daughters.

Brian's Daytona Yellow L78 Rag really does it for me. I tried to buy or trade for it but he never gave me a price.

Stefano,
What a nice cruise night! Man, a White COPO Camaro, Hemi Charger, Shelby Mustang, all in the same line of sight. Not to mention the other couple of hundred cars that were there.

Just came back from Super Chevy. Supercars in attendance were a 70 Deuce Nova, Green, I think 4 speed. Wow, what a nice restoration. Owner was not around so I couldnt get name but I know he was from IL. Also there was a Hugger Orange COPO Camaro in the Gold Class, what a beautiful car. The guy said he was from Louisiana(I probably spelled that wrong!)After I talked to him and asked If he had ever been on this site he said NO and literally walked away from me. /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Frank,
Turn out was a bit light due to Super Chevy, Bill Stacek Chevy's Show ,as well as a few other key shows and cruises going on at the same time.

Still lots of cool cars!

Stefano & Mr.70,
Is the plan to attend the ALL CHEVY SHOW at Larry Roesch?

My fuel pump went out the night before the SUPER CHEVY show. I was planning on showing her, but that changed quickly.
I should have the car back in shape in time for the Roesch show. I hope to see you guys there.

I had planned on bringing both the L-78 conv and the ZL-1 to Elmhurst Super Chevy but because I am in the middle of building a new garage and my cars are all over the place, I can only bring the ZL-1. I would also like to bring the ZL-1 to Larry Rosch Sunday what time does it start? Anybody want to stop for breakfast?

Mr70

Rick, while the statute of limitations ran out on Jack's old service manager, who had borrowed it, it hasn't for you.

Will you bring it to the show for me. It might fit in the trunk of your Red Boat... I mean Chevelle /ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif

I will see you guys there early. The guy that is the general manager of Roesch was the guy that started me in the car business so I will show up there to maby see him and hopefully street race somebody with a 70 L78 Chevelle. Daddys got a new pair of shoes! (repro nylon Mickey Thompson L60/15 on Crager SS 15x8 on the rear, and F70/14 Wide Ovals on 14x7 Crager SS on front. Car hooks up like a sling shot now!) /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

OK Rick, I will have to throw a tune up on that ZL-1 if we are going to do 1/4 mile runs down 83! Stefano as for your sign, Strat said the 30 day redemption period is over, so I think it is hanging up in his restaraunt. It sounds like it will be a good time Sunday so I hope everybody makes it out.

Stefano
08-23-2002, 04:18 AM
John,
I went to Strats to pick it up but it wasn't there?

Stefano
08-24-2002, 05:57 AM
What are the directions to get there and who is going?

Steven J
08-24-2002, 05:37 PM
If the boss at home lets me, I'm going as a spectator. You can find the directions here - http://larryroesch.com/

It's about three miles northeast of Strat's.

It was great to see all the list members & their cars at the L/R Show:

MrGasser 1969 COPO Camaro

Mr70 1970 L78 Chevelle

HvyChevy 1970 LS5

Impalal78 1965 425hp Impala

ssl78 1969 ZL1 equiped L78 Camaro

Joel 1969 L78 Camaro

MrNickeyNova 1969 Z28 (membership pending)

Stefano 1969 Douglass Yenko Camaro

Steven J. and Sixtiesmuscle made a Cameo appearance.
I think I got everyone. /ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif

MrGasser's COPO and Mr70's Chevelle are outstanding examples of their breed and true show stoppers. IMO It would have been worth the trip just to see any of the cars.

Great show guys. I think next time we are going to need a supercar class. By the way, I'm ready to trade my L78 Impala for that Beautiful red on red L78 Chevelle. Let me know. and how many ZL1 cars do you see out and about.

Next good show...September 14th 11:00am to 3 pm. at the willow creek church. It's put on by the South Barrington Fraternal Order of Police (support your local Police).
All proceeds go to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.

Let me know what you guys think.

This time Mr.70, no hogging all the trophys. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

It is Super Chevy feature night tonight at Elmhurst. Who is going?

DarrenX33
09-26-2002, 04:16 AM
Ok. So I am a little late. Wouldn't be surprised if I have run into some of you gentlemen. I had been trying to hit more shows this year. Anyone recall seeing a Rally Green w/white 69 Z/28 with black houndstooth? Well that is me. I just joined up on the site so if you see me chuck a rock at my head. I'd like to meet some local members.

ssl78 1969 ZL1 equiped L78 Camaro? Hmmm. This car sounds familiar. Is it possible that you ran into my brother at Oberweiss Bartlett during the summer? Possibly joined by a white 69 COPO?

Got it. I took pictures of the the Douglas COPO over the weekend (SCR5). Bummer that I didn't join sooner. Would have liked to say hi.

Billy- I will post a pic soon. Have a few but not very good. Will take one tonight.

FYI- I think Bloomingdale is still going on. I was thinking of heading up there tomorrow (Fri) if weather cooperates.

Dover Yenko was Don's little brother. He installed 250 CI six cylinder engines in his conversion cars. /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Hey Darren, where have you been hiding with that thing?
Your car looks great. I'm looking forward to the chance to see it close up. Maybe Meadows, maybe Bloomingdale.

Billy

DarrenX33
09-28-2002, 09:48 PM
No hiding going on here. I swear I think I have been driving it a lot more that I have during the summers of past. I went out today for a theraputic drive in the country. I wish I could do it everyday. Those farm roads out west are outstanding. It is also fun looking at all the houses that have huge barns/garages. I know of 3 69 Camaros on my usual route among other cars. Trying to take advantage of the weather before you know what.

I wanted to do Bloomingdale Friday but weather looked lousy. Have to try next week. Is there still shows going on at Meadows? I know Stefano told my brother that he goes there. If it is still going on maybe I could just take my car to work and go from there. -D

Steak and Shake at the South West corner of route 59 and North ave is having one of their final cruise nights tonight ,I believe?

DarrenX33
10-01-2002, 04:08 PM
Oh man. And it is supposed to rain tonight. Anyone going?
FYI- On Wednesday's the Quizno's in downtown Batavia has a cruise night. The last time I went one of the organizers said that they were going to do it until it snows. It is a small showing because it just got started. But yet a place to get together.

It would be nice to get together once before the white stuff. I know, answer should be.. "Where were you all summer?" /ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif
