I could see where hood clearance would be a problem with this powerplant but wouldn't it be nice /ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Looks like you took that picture at the 50th kick-off. I've got several pictures of all the engines they had on display there. Pretty cool. The C5-R doesn't have that large of a bubble on the hood, so don't understand how it fits there...

It was on display at the Monterey Historic Races.
Other than the Kinsler injection that's basically the motor Lamar Walden is putting in my #51 2002 ZL1. I can't wait! /ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Does anyone have any action photos of Lamar Racing his White Copo back in the day?
Lamar was "given" the first ZL1, #51. Also, Lamar has more engine building experience in his little finger than everyone else in Atlanta put together. Lamar is probably the closest to a Grumpy Jenkins you could find nowadays. He will, no doubt, build a great C5R motor. I'm betting more than $100k+ on that.

Charley, I finally got to see a picture of my 2002 ZL1 on the ZL1 Site. It is #7, the first Hugger Orange one, and in the first batch with yours ordered; "by Berger". I'm glad your's is being built before mine though. Then I know what to have Matt do to make mine Quicker. Ha-Ha, not really, it'll be the same, as I'd still like be able to drive on the street.

Hummm, I would rather put it into a Corvette. But then you might as well just buy a C5R in that case.

When I saw the old and new pair of Charley's ZL1s at the reunion together,it provided a surreal perspective on the whole Super Car continuum. /ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif
Stefano- What "is" your perspective on the super car continuum? What is the bigggest difference between today and 30 years ago? What is the future of V8 powered, live axle muscle cars? Is there a future for American muscle cars - new or old?

I have to meditate on this one for awhile.
No spot. I'm just wondering what the muscle car scene will look like in 10, 20 or 30 years. There still plenty of young gear heads but there are also many kids today who's first car will be (or was) a small import. For example: in 30 years will a fourth generation SS have the appeal to that generation as the late 60's muscle cars have to us? What will be the classics? Surely not souped up Civics.
Personally I think politics (saftey, alledged fuel shortages and air polution) will ultimately end the current HP craze we are seeing today and ultimately effect the old classics too. 400+ HP BMWs and Mercedes? Might these be the classics of the future?

My 10 yr old boy can't wait til I let him behind the wheel of my '69 Camaro. The kids at my daughter's middle school just stood and stared in amazement when they saw my car parked out there. The "Y" and "Z" generation might belong to the import rides, but I think the next bunch will be more in love with the old american muscle once again. It's just a thought and a hunch.....
I hope you are right. Hopefully also, the Imperial Federal government will not continue to slash octane availability.

I often wonder what will happen with the current Muscle car craze and are we in for another drop in values like in the early 90's. I really don't see who will buy our cars once the Baby Boom generation is dead and gone. Although, I guess the really rare stuff will always find a home with a collector like the cars built in the 30's and 40's that are restored and collected today.
As for the younger generation and their desire to build Hondas etc. I guess that's what they can afford and what will form their memories for the future - much like my high school days and my Camaros and Chevelles. Perhaps these cars will be the collectibles for that generation. Who knows?
As for modern muscle, the closest thing I have found to the thrill of winding out some vintage iron is our Z06. This car is downright awsome. Sounds great, goes like he?? and shifts all day long at 6,400 rpm under warranty! I took it to the office today to help me get over the fact that I had to go in on a Sunday. On the way there two kids in a Subaru WRX pulled up beside me and let their car go trying to entice me into a race. They had to be kidding /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

Zedder...I wouldn't discount that WRX Subaru. Those thing run in the 12's with minor modifications.

Maybe true on the WRX. I wonder about a car who has "CARBON FIBER PARKING BRAKE HANDLE" and "CARBON FIBER PATTERNED TRIM" listed under Performance Options.

Yes the WRX's are pretty nice from what I've read. (for an import /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif) Those AWD launches help tons in the 60 foot times I imagine. Maybe thats what Rob and I need since we both had HIGH short track times in our late model Camaros............

Ironically, my brother-in-law had called me up the night before to see what I thought of the WRX, so I had just done a little research on them. 0-60 in 5.5 or 5.8 seconds really is phenominal for 217 hp or so? But what I can't figure out is why they would put all that go in a 4 door sedan that looks like something my mother might drive around? Oh well, I'll still stick with the 405 horsies and 0-60 in 3.8 seconds in my Z. It has enough power to get me into all sorts of trouble /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif
