Way to go Rob. Excellent light... once again. Get rid of that crappy 60', and you got a 12.70 for fun!

Well, since I put this engine in, I've never had a 1.9X short time, which was pretty common with the original engine. I've had a few 2.00s, but mostly mid-high 2.0X's. She's not hopping, so I don't think clamps will help. It's just not hooking...either that or my foot is too heavy! .70s are there if I get my 60's in the 1.9s or better. There's always next weekend! Anyone have any ideas? Tires? Oh, did I mention another rocker arm bit the dust?! 2 in 2 weeks!

Gotta like that light, though /ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif !

Is the F70x14 a wider tire then the E70x15? The lower gear ratio of the 14in tire may help the 60ft also. I guess you would have to test it.

Rob, It's a stick, right? Are you running on bias-ply slicks? Is the air pressure low enough to wrinkle the walls when you launch? Is track prep good? What is your launch RPM? Are you spinning or bogging? It's probably hard to really "bog" with all that big-block torque. Are you getting a good burn-out? Launching about 150-200 RPM below tire-frying revs? I assume you are "easing" it out of the hole with the clutch (no side-step)?

Please forgive all the questions, you probably already know what you are doing, I'm just trying to be helpful!

AWESOME Light, by the way - remind me never to bracket race with you!

It's an automatic SS, but I'm sure even though the info wont apply to the camaro maybe it will help us in launching one of our other cars. Thanks /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

Auto! Cool! All you need is a 3500 RPM stall-speed torque converter, and you will be in the mid-12's..
...is that a part you can change in Certified Stock?

Uhhh...no! Gotta be the stock converter. Early in the car's life we had a converter that was quite a bit looser, and it really liked it. But, with that said, the tighter converter helps negate some of the wheelspin.

I tried bringing it out from an idle and leaving off the converter, just run up to about 1,000rpm. I have felt the last 2 tracks couldn't take much more rpm than that.

As for tires, yeah, they are bias-plys, but they are Polyglass tires. I think part of the problem may be the age of the tires...they are going on 6 years old. I tried hazing them and the full burnout treatment, and couldn't tell a lot of difference in 60' times. But, no better than my short times are, it's really not worth noting which technique is better.

Thanks for the help, though, as any and all assistance is needed!
