I have seen a couple of 70s model chevelles with big blocks and under the carb is a metal plate that goes between the carb and intake about 1/8 in thick,do these work well, due to very low hood clearance on my 67 chevelle I am think of going to one of these type if they are availiable. If they work well and where can I pick one of these up.They seem to be approx 1" larger than the base of the carb all the way around.

The heat shield is still available from GM. If not it's available from one of the aftermarket suppliers

I have an NOS one, it was my first purchase towards my restoration effort on my Deuce - unfortunately, it was a moot purchase since the Deuce's didn't come with them! I was using the magazine articles on Deuces as a guide, mistake #1! So, it sit's in the shop - maybe it will find it's way onto my '69 SS Nova, unless somebody else wants it more than I /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

Bobby, they do work.. I have one on my 70 L78 Nova and without it I was vapor locking the carb due to the carb sitting so low to the intake on the 70 low rise intakes, L78/LS6 style..

The others are correct, I think you can still get them through GM.. I suggest a GM one. They look more correct and have the part numbers on them...
