copo9655aa,
That Z-30 was a great package --and you are correct it had a different Z-30 stripe and badging---- -3 engine setups were available--door#1 400hp--door# 2--425hp--door# 3--take no prisoners-475hp[strip only]---- AND yes keep those great photos coming or you will be reported to the Royal Canadian Mounties for cruel and unusual punisment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif----JoeG /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

This car almost looks like the Motion the AMT model company used to make their own version. After seeing the model box picture, would it be possible to find out if the Motion on the box is a Z-30?

Fhakya
07-11-2003, 10:11 PM
Nope, the one on the box is Mark Timken's Phase III Big block.

copo9566aa,
Is this a riddle?--------I don't think there were any major changes bet. 71/72 Z/28 other than some different colors?---your photo collection is very impressive

I like to sharing what I sees with the other gearhead. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I have to know much in these magazines.
For me a magazine significant it is the knowledge
and not the value of the magazine which counts more. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif
and with a scanner I note many details which I had never to noted before. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

No this is not a riddle. It's not easy with 71/72 Camaro and 71/72 Nova
This is similar with 71/72 Mustang.
No big change on the look for GM and Ford in 71 and 72 and 73/74 for Mopar.
probably a panic /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.giffor these manufacturer because of the crisis of gas.

I have more than 2,000 mag 1954 to 1992... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have more material for Shelby but this is another story. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Motion triva.....
Car and Driver mag built a 69 Camaro with a LT1 that they called a Z/29 Blue Maxi. Joel said he could do better and built the Z/30 he called the Green Meani. This was a SB 69 Camaro with L88 style hood. In some Motion ads this hood was called "the Green Meani hood" but later was called L88 hood.
Roger, off topic but I saw a old picture of a Shelby American sponsored Top Fuel dragster from late 60s. I never knew of it before. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

And I have the C&D with the blue Maxi 69 Z/29
Carroll named this SB Shelby GT 350 Joel Camaro SB Z/30

I thought the "Green Meanie" hood was Joel's snorkel style hood.

Stefano,
The Green Meanie hood is the one on the Green/Otis Chandler '69 Camaro.--JoeG

According to the article on the Green Meanie, this was the first car to get the L88 style hood and the Motion rear wing. It says Joel had to order 50 hoods to absorb the cost of the mold. The Green Meanie had 1969 Corvette sidepipes, rear wing, L88 hood, LT1 with edelbrock 2x4 crossram, cable driven rev limiter, hooker headers, and Lakewood scattershield. It says "sprint type wheels" which may mean Ansen Sprints. They said the engine would rev very high with no problem. When the magazine picked up the car for a road test it had a note on the dash reading "He who blows it, buys it". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

copo9566aa,
They usually perform the ink-blot test on delusional people----never heard of the "What do you see in the headlight test"---- I tell you what really scares me --I actually can see the letter "Z" in the headlight also /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif---OK --but the difference between you and me, is that I wasn't looking for it!!.-------------What is yor diagnosis JEFF--Two weeks of Grass skirts??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif--JoeG /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif-- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very cool, Jeff! Interesting that one of the performance upgrades apparently was a switch to a 12-bolt Chevy differential..

Fred, the 69 Green meanie Z/28 was not a RS and I don't think it has been found.
Sam, Chevy put 10 bolt rear in some of the SS cars in 1972 so Motion was swapping them out for 12 bolt.

Seattle Sam

JoeC, I believe the last year a 12-bolt was put into a Camaro was 1970..thereafter the 8.5" 10-bolt was used.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I think Joe is right on this point. I remember a write up (HP Cars 71 or 72) where Rosen was dissapointed (shorthand for pissed I'm guessing) that they were using the 10-bolts and swapping them out for 12's.
