I'd like to try and make the trip up as a spectator. Will discussions regarding odd color combinations, the liquid tire chain option, COPO floormats and such be permitted? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi everyone. There is a restaurant on Grand Ave. I think it is a Denny's, and you can meet there before the show. Possibly have breakfast, and some serious bench racing.....Joel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Dilemma Day ! ! ! Caught between the Roesch show or cruise to vintage car races at Elkhart Lakes. Come on guys...someone convince me that south to the Roesch show outdoes the trip north to "Cheese-world". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

The show was a blast! There were a lot of sYc members on hand. It was like a mini reunion for the Chi-Town area members. Of course Rick Peters (Mr70) took best of show and trophys were also won by Ed Murphy (sprchevy) in his beautiful 69 Camaro and John P (ssl78) won a trophy for his Dover white Douglass Yenko.

Our ugly mugs are as follows from left to right.

Darren C (DarrenX33) Joel Bruno (JBB) Rick P (Mr70) Ed M (sprchevy) My father Frank, Frank M (hvychev) John P (ssl78) and I don't remember the last fellas name. Sorry.

What A Great Time! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

That would be Dan Vlasic over John P. left shoulder.
Dan was the only Eye witness to John Orlows Terrible Truck & Trailer flip over on I-65 on the way home from the ACES Chevelle show in Tennessee in June.
The Suburban,The Trailer, and his frame off LS6 Chevelle where all totaled, due to a series of Mishaps.
John Orlow came out physical unscratched, and is busy on a new project.

I have to take a moment and relay this here.
A Pro Street Camaro pulls off the street & into the show to register at 8AM.Not even street legal in any sense of the word.Don Garlitts would have been intimadated by this Camaro.
A local cop sees him and pulls up behind him,Marz Lights a Blazing,at the registration table to write up around 9 ticket Violations, and take the driver away in hand cuffs to jail Possibly.
Franks Dad,who we all have seen Vintage pix of on this website, and who is a Police officer some 30 years, proceeds to talk to the 2 years on the Job arresting officer, and pursuades him to not take anyone to Jail, and not write a Single ticket. This was a Total stranger helping another total stranger, with nothing in common but Leaded Octane in their Veins.
Later on Franks Dad happens to buy 6 Raffle tickets.
His Dad had his Raffle Numbers called 4 times over the PA system today!
I couldn't stop laughing and his Dad couldn't believe it.
His car was overloaded with Door prizes.
God Definatley helps those who help others!
This is for you Mr.Magallon Sr. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

That was a really nice comment Rick my father appreciates it. That is something that he would have done for anybody. He became a bit of a celeberty after that display. The members that have met him have had nothing but good things to say about him. He is truly a class act.

Seriously this was an example of what we as members of this hobby should do for each other all the time. My father had never met this person before but stepped up to help him for the love of our hobby. Next time you see one of your fellow enthusiasts in need don't be afraid to help.

It was a good show and a good time. It is always fun to get together as a group with the chi- town guys on this board. This was just a warm up for next weekend when we expand outside the chi-town group.
The luckiest person of the day was the girl the cop had just pulled over to give a ticket to. When the cop seen the guys race car he thought why give out one ticket when I can make the weeks quota on this guy, so he threw the girl back her license and went after the guy in the race car. This cop was really something, when he saw another guy at the show taking a digital picture of what was happening he went after the guy and made him erase. About this time the crowd was really growing and getting pretty vocal towards the cop, whats he do, he calls for back up. Anyways thanks to Frank SR. everything turned out ok and the guy in the race car and his 13 year old son didnt end up in jail.
The last guy in the picture is Dan Vasik he was at last years reunion some of you guys might know him. Here is a picture of his car. Hopefully will see every one next weekend.

Hey everyone, great time at the show, sorry I had to leave early. Frank's dad is the top, and the only thing I can recall is a loose recollection of a biblical passage stating
"a good deed returns sevenfold" and what was it, Franks Dad won door prizes FOUR TIMES!! I can't think of the odds of that happening, but there you go. Give your Dad a big thanks for me and the Illinois Camaro Club........
