I don't know if they sold super cars but you have to admit it's an interesting name for a Chevy dealership. http://www.yenko.net/attachments/54902-Photo00030.jpg

Rick Peters (Mr70) wanted me to post these items that he has in his collection for all to view.

I thought the Prout emblems were in the shape of a fish similar to ones used by various Christian organizations, hence the nickname "The Prout Trout". Could this emblem be from earlier or later than of the supercar era?

Guys post more emblems, stickers, & decals! I thought that this thread would have had a huge response!

The one that is on the back of your car, the one on Shors, and now this one. We can ask the source himself on Saturday Nov 22nd! I do show Berglund in Jamestown NY. in the Yenko network too.I was not questioning that, but rather if this specific Emblem indeed came from that specific location?
You would think if there were two identical Chevrolet dealership names in the country at that time, they would cast their location in the emblem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

There have been a couple of similar dealer decals that have been posted here in this thread. For one their is the Jack Douglass and Jack Phelan Chevrolet decals which Shor and I posted in the first page of this thread that are very similar to each other. I also noticed the Wallace Chevy and the Ron Rice decals are similar also.

Here are a couple of cool ones that I have that are very similar as well. This one is a NOS vintage decal from the old Chicago Chevy dealer Ferrell Hicks Chevrolet that was located at 5727 S. Ashland in Chicago IL. This decal was from the 60's-70's.

hvychev
11-15-2003, 02:34 AM
Here is the other that is VERY similar. Bill Jacobs Chevrolet is still located in Joliet, IL which is about 35 miles out side Chicago. They do huge business in new Corvette sales today. They were roumored to have been a supercar dealer that sold both Yenko and Dick Harrell cars. This dealer decal is NEW but they have been EXACTLY the same since at least the late 60's. I saw an original owner family 69 Nova SS L78 4 speed last summer at the Joliet cruise night. The original decal was still on the back of the car and was identical besides the usual age wear.

The Ferrell Hicks and Bill Jacobs decals are even almost the same exact size. They are the same length wise but the Ferrell Hicks is a tad bigger width wise. They are also both printed on reflective sheeting.

BTW Marlin please help me with that info! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

I know a Mechanic who worked at Bill Jacobs back then.I will ask him about the Yenko network..

Jeff
Does that DH emblem on Kevins Camaro have a painted on Grey background,or is that background physically part of the DH emblem itself?
On the 1970 DH Camaro, this same embem has a Yellow outline painted on the car itself behind the emblem.

Thank You Jeff.

Frank
I talked to my friend who worked as a Bill Jacobs Mechanic. He says Bill Sr. was not promoting the Yenko/SuperCars cars as heavily as he was his own cars.It was never really his Forte.
As stated earlier, just because you were a Dealer in the Network, didn't always mean you sold a Yenko Prepared car.
My Friend does not remember any Yenkos being solid from Bill Jacobs Chevrolet, but he does remember seeing some ads showing them in the network back then,as has been shown recently here.Again no solid proof, just him going by his memories.
It wasn't until Bill Jacobs Jr. took over in 1978,that they really added more performance orientated cars...

A month ago or so I attended the first ever cruise night at the dealership that my car came from. I called in advance and told them I was coming with a car sold from them. I didn't think they cared but when I got there they were waiting for me. This is Olaf Gjovik owner of the dealership with my car.

I had copies of original titles on the car as well as copies from microfilm from old newspapers of his dealer ads. He took my folder to show his family and came back with this. Said it was in his safe and I should have it.

Talking to Mr. Gjovik was a hoot. He was telling me that when the Camaros first came out he thought they would fail cause they were too small.

Now my next battle is trying to get him to honor his offer to search his archives to find pictures of the dealership from 1969. He says he has them and my car did sit on the showroom floor. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Hope he doesn't find them I am trying to keep a lid on the fact that my car is really a 6 banger. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I love this kind of stuff. Looking forward to the SCR in hopes that some of you bring along some of your small items of memorabilia and related Supercar promotional items and what not. It's always cool finding something from your collector car's selling dealership. Here are a few neat items I was fortunate enough to turn up from Rosenthal Chevrolet, in Arlington, VA the original selling dealer of my '70 Chevelle. Turns out they sold at least one ZL-1 as well. Please folks, if you have any items like these, bring them along to the SCR with your cars and share them with us all. I think everyone gets a kick out of seeing some of this stuff alongside the cars. I know I sure do. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

08-23-2004, 02:22 AM
Yes Rick I still have the car, but it's just a home-built driver, no numbers to crunch here. Not really SCR material. I'm more into it because it's my first car, I restored it entirely at home, and I've had it for nearly 11 years now. It constantly gets little updates that make it more enjoyable for me. Last summer it was a set of vintage American wheels and an original '70 C.I. air cleaner. This summer it was a new 3.31 posi, F-41 rear bar and a set of air lift bags. Just got it all put together and on the road this weekend actually, and in the 11 years of owning it, the one thing I've never done with it is tested it at the track. The way the new air lift setup makes it plant and go, I'm thinking it may be time to visit the new & improved Pittsburgh Raceway Park. All of this smack talkin' between Marlin and Frankie has got me itchin' to go to the drags too. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I ordered/bought a new '90 Mustang LX and specifically requested that no dealer emblem was to be installed during dealer prep. They wrote a work order for several additional dealer items (floor mats, etc.) and noted my request on the form. The day the car arrived (several weeks later) the dealer prep guys drilled holes and mounted the dealer emblem on the back hatch with sheet metal screws--and they weren't even stainless screws. (Cheap bast**ds.) I was so f-ing mad that I refused to take delivery of the car. The sales manager leaned on me and I produced the work order that stated "Do not install dealer emblem on car." After two days of back-and-forth I finally hired a lawyer and the dealer backed down immediately. Initially I had demanded my money back but the dealer really wanted my money so they ordered another car and threw in some free stuff. Six weeks later I had the second car, five free oil changes, and free floor mats.

Don't get me started on dealer emblems...

(Unless they say "By Berger" and are mounted on a 427 conversion car. Then they're solid gold.)

I did not work there back then, but the salesman for your car would have been Mel Perry or Roger Booth. The old service manager Dave Kenahan is still around. He worked in the high performance department and with the race team so did Tony Padula, Tommy Ditmare, Nickey Manilla, Joe Vanny and Dick Pinto. Back in 91 or 92 Jack the lot guy put all the old paper work in the dumpster. They had a Z11 Impala a few funny cars and some super stocks. Where was that picture taken

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this but I thought some might like to see these photos. I worked at Jack Douglass Chevrolet for 7 years and did find some memorabilia I saved. I saw a nice1969 yellow Yenko at MCACN that had a dealer sticker on the valve cover and told the owner’s friend that the sticker was wrong for a 1969 and I had the correct script sticker. I never did hook up with the owner and now I can't find it but it will show up.
The bow tie sticker below with Hinsdale on it we started using in the mid 70's I believe. The key fob I think is cool, the style looks older but we must have started with those after 1968.
The misc stickers seem kind of an odd marketing idea that Chevrolet sent us. "Belt your wife & kids,” they wouldn't say that today.
The last picture is my plate off my 1969 yellow Yenko that I sold in 1984. There have been a couple posts mentioning my car or possibly me so I thought I would reply. It was an original engine, trans, & diff car that had only the rear original Yenko emblem remaining on it. A local parts guy Barry Hampton & I had the emblems reproduced in Japan, I think. We ordered maybe 500 of them I have 3 left, wasn’t a great seller in early 80s. My car did not have hood stripe, side stripes, or headrest logos. I did put Yenko side stripes on it when I restored it. We also found the holes in the fenders for the front emblems below the centerline and put those emblems on. I don’t know if this was a Jack Douglass delivered car or not we just assumed it was. I will have to search a little harder for any pictures, slides and the currant owner any let you know what I find.
Merry Christmas to all. George

Frank, you are right that these two decals are almost the same. The reason is that Bert Ferrell was Bill Jacob's father in law and for a time they were in business together. It is true that Bill Jacobs is still alive and well in Joliet and yes we are still using the same decals, but only on the older Vette's and other muscle cars. there is an updated decal on the newer stuff. However if somebody would like a new older style decal I would be more than happy to send them out to anyone who wants one. Also I can confirm that we did in fact sell a few Harrell cars, but I'm not sure about the Yenko cars. However any info on that would be appreciated.

Pete,
Thanks, I have seen that post card pic, but it was the trunk emblem I was hoping to find.
In an earlier post JChlupsa wrote...
"Found this Emblem on a now burgandy 67 SS 396 Chevelle that the guy just bought for $2K. Car came with all orginal Drivetrain and sat under a mango tree for something like 16 years. At least the guy had a tarp over the car. Seller was the org owner of the car." http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/use...al_boyd_mullen_ (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/09/full-18856-15758-09_10_14_original_boyd_mullen_)
I can't reach JChlupsa because his messages are full. But, maybe someone else can help with a similar emblem or way to reach him.
Thanks! Jeff

I saw the emblem picture and understand it's what you're seeking but wanted to point out the correct Mullen spelling as it may make the difference, especially when searching online!
Does the Dealer Code & address I noted jive w/ info you have as I don't see it listed on the NCRS site?
Best of luck finding an emblem also welcome aboard Jeff!

Pete,
I have an NCRS Shipping Data Report for my car and it confirms Boyd Mullen Chevrolet is Dealer Code 459 in one 30, just as you mentioned.
I also have other documentation fro my car, but no trunk emblem, that would be a fantastic piece to display on my car.
Do you know of any way to reach out to the guy who has one?
Thanks!

Not a "supercar" agency (that I know of) but there is a story:

I noticed, when the light hits it just right, that the emblems and decals on the rear bumper of my Grand Prix have cooked "ghost images" into the chrome. You can actually read the text of the sticker that was placed there.

One of the stickers was from the selling dealership: Stevenson Pontiac in Ludington Michigan.

It was clear enough that I made a sketch and had some decals made up, emulating the same size and font. I don't know what the original colors were so I chose the colors somewhat randomly based on stickers from around here that I liked.

The dealership is gone but, appropriately enough, the building is still there and is now a small swap meet/flea market.

Found these on Ebay where my car is thought to have come from..(NCRS only originally listed Dealer Code & Zone) and @fsc66 Paul, has been a hige help! I know the tag and ruler with slogan is prior to 1980+ ownership of the dealer under Dick Perrin(1950s-1980 and prior to that his father as early as 1930). Post 1980 owned and still operated today by the Breault family. In my research I found this: https://www.metroli.org/newsletter%20archive%20PDFs/2012_08_20_3.pdf
a 1967 427/435HP Vette bought new by mechanic that worked there in 1967. This intrigued me because my car is an original 396 Pace car so thinking it might have been special ordered by someone. Meeting with son of Dick Perrin next month as he has pics of dealership back in 60's to share. He remembered the 'Vette and strange mechanic that owned it(he was 16 at the time), but didn't remember my car. Dealership was tiny back then so still working on some leads although a few kep people are no longer with us..

Booth Chevrolet, which later became Arnold, which later became Palanker… and is now back to being called Arnold. All were located at the same Babylon address over the years. I have a Palanker magnet too. I also have a Mole Amityville emblem (which was a Ford dealer) and a Potamkin emblem (they had many locations and sold a bunch of different makes). This is an early metal version which I haven’t seen before.
