As most of you already know, part of the activities at the annual Supercar Reunion is a trip to the drag strip. Thankfully, this year is no different, as the sYc has again reserved Gateway International Raceway for Friday, Septmeber 3, 2004, but this year we have a little something "extra" planned for our day at the track...

We are proud to announce that the newly formed Modified Production class will be joining us for a day under the sun at one of the nicest drag racing facilities on the planet. The Modified Production (MP) class encompasses not only the MP class itself, but also FAST (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) and PS (Pure Stock) cars as well. Not only will we get to see the Supercars going down the track, but the addition of the MP class ensures that the day will be jam-packed full of racing action. In fact, since the cars are paired together by closest qualifying ET and run a "best of 3", then you can bet on seeing an abundance of door-handle to door-handle races! As a bonus, the MP event at the Supercar Reunion will also serve as the "grande finale" for the MP season, so all the racers will be trying to lay claim to bragging rights until next spring!

For a copy of the MP rules, CLICK HERE (http://www.yenko.net/attachments/67889-mp_rules.doc), and be sure to check out the editorial in the May '04 issue of Muscle Car Enthusiast magazine for all the details, as well as a history lesson of the class itself. Or, better yet, visit the Modified Production forum (http://www.v8buick.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=38) for up to the minute details and chatter!

The track will open at 8am, racing starts a 9am, and specatator dmission is $5. See you there! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

I would like to see you change the rule on scattershields to include "all cars with solid lifters" not just the fastest ones.

Any clutch explosion at 7,500 rpm or up can almost cut a car in half. No mater how fast of ET the car can turn. The knowledgable guys on here would probably go ahead and run one but there is always some goofball that has a weak old Flywheel that should have been pitched long ago show up and they could get hurt or worse yet they could hurt someone in the spectator area.
Years ago, I saw a piece of something come out from under a '57 chev that blew his clutch at the Tulsa drags. It flew just over the top row of the full bleachers in the section next to me. We don't need anybody hurt... that is for sure.

If I was writing the rules I would even go farther and outlaw anything but a billet flywheel. I would hate to see some one try to get by with a older factory cast flywheel.

Safety first is cheap insurance.

Not trying to stir up anything as your rules look very good to me. I worked tech too many times and I just had to put in my 2 cents worth.

Does this mean that I might be able to run my 68 R/T at this years event or is the MP class going to be just GM since it is a GM event. Thanks Larry

Larry, Friday's racing is open to all makes. The only thing, we may have to put a limit on the number of cars, but then it will be first come, first served, and we will let everyone know if that happens. Too many cars is a good problem though. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Larry: I know this is a slow reply, but you might holler at Casey (Marks) and/or Jim (Buzilla)...you're car is darn close to what they are looking for. But, with me being green to all things Mopar, I'll defer to them to be sure.

I have had several Pure Stock & F.A.S.T. guys show interest in the racing, so there's a good possibility us Supercar guys will get to see some serious muscle duking it out on the bias plys, as well as the M/P cars and their REAL tires! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
