Admist the joint efforts of the SYC group and all the participants who have worked together to compile and publish these wonderful VIN lists (which still brings tears to my eyes by the way), I can only hope that one day (at least in my lifetime) we will also see a VIN list for the 50 Gibb Chevy II COPO's published on this outstanding site.

It's the patriotic thing to do! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Hello Kim,

Just curious, was wondering where the Harrell car you had for sale a few years ago with the 454 end up? Did it find a good home?

Tim I sold the car to Dennis Hartweg and his wife sold it to Kevin S. By the way it never had a 454 in it. It was a 425-427 early 69 270 casting motor I had it rebuilt just before I sold it and it was stock bore with the org pistons in it. Kim,

I must be thinking of a different car then. If I remember correctly, it might have been Ray M. who mentioned to me about a black COPO with a 454 for roughly $20,000. This was several years ago of course.

Tim,

What may seem a little confusing is that Dennis H. owned 2 different Harrell prepared Novas and the Grecian Green COPO Nova, all. The former 427 Harrell conversion, was black in color,( originally Fathom Blue COPO 9738 ) the former Kim Howie car. It was a race car when Kim owned it. Rodney Hahn was the original owner of this car, who lived in Topeka, KS. The car with the 454, was a CA car originally purchased by Beverly Warren, I was told? It was a 396 Dick Harrell prepared car, One of only 2 known to exist. The other 396 Harrell car is in Cedar Rapids, IA. It is also a Fathom Blue car.

The Harrell prepared 396 car is under restoration and will be finished for the next reunion. Tommy K is the new owner who bought it from Ann Hartweg last year. Tom is a great owner who will make the car as best he can. We are grateful to be a part of it...BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I seem to have quite a few of them. I am working on putting them together so I can send them to Marlin. I assume he will format and post said info. For now,I would be more than happy to tell you the Grecian Green car I have is VIN W369979. As far as I know, all of the VINs for the COPO 9738 were 114278W...

Beverly Warren was the orig owner of the #44 Harrell tuned car. (FathomBlue)Sold out of Courtesy Chev.CA 1968 -1983.

As I understand it, these cars were built fairly quick so that they could be drag raced in the new factory automatic's class, but does anyone have a "guesstimation" (an engineering term) of the time frame the 50 cars were built in? I don't suppose they rolled off the assembly lines one right after another?

Tommy K's 396 Harrell tuned car actually had a 427 in it. THe block was a 454 block, but the crank was a 427, no special balancer or flywheel. That engine was built by an engine shop in LA, and will be installed in a particular Rallye Green, '69 SS Nova L78, M20, 3.55 Posi - can you guess who's http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kim, thanks again. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for '68 Nova's dated the first and second week of july at the races this year.

P.S.- I know in who's possession the VIN's lie, but I thought I would bring up the topic for discussion anyways (not trying to stir up a bee's nest or anything). I'm just another die hard Chevy II, Camaro, Chevelle, http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gifHarrell, http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gifGibb, http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gifYenko, drag racing fan trying to make the world a better place to live in.
