I bought this car from the third owner. No factory paperwork on it. I had quite a few Musclecars as a kid, but always bought something that needed work. I would buy something, fix it up and sell it. Could never afford to buy new stuff. I got out of the cars for 20 or so years, focusing on Harley Davidson's. A few years ago I decided I wanted a couple of cars. I have spent my life fixing other peoples junk, so I wanted as nice a car as I could afford So the search began. I bought the books by MacNeish and a few others. Started looking at web sites like this one and the CRG. Learned a lot from the sites. Got me a real quick lesson on some used car salesmen. Discovered not too many of them are honest. I ended up calling MacNeish and telling him what I was looking for. I emailed him at least a dozen cars for sale. He was good about helping me out. The guy that bought the 67 Z28 from MacNeish had this one for sale. It had been Judged at the camaro Nationals, and was awarded the Junior Level Legend Class for restored cars.
Before I bought it, I contacted the original owner, who still lives in California. He sold the car to a good friend of his in Batavia Illinois. The second owner did the restoration on it. The third owner did some detailing for the judging. The rear valance was changed years ago. Not a good job, but the rest of the metal is all original. Was painted in 77.
The only things I have changed are the shifter, the jets, and installed a tach and some gauges. I used all the factory mounting holes for the gauge panel and made up separate a wiring harness for everything. Basically a plug in setup.
It handles pretty crummy with the stock tires on it. I have been searching for a set of wheels to mount some radials on, but no luck yet.
Runs good. I like it.

As I've mentioned to you several times Tony - your Z is a "Knockout". An awesome car for sure buddy http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Someday you will have to get Bob to feature that all original 69 Chevelle SS http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That is a beautiful Z/28. You hardly ever see one without spoilers any more http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif.
Do I detect a crossram setup in the trunk???

Thanks everybody. The Crossram belongs to the guy I bought the car from. If I remember correctley, that picture was taken at the World Of Wheels show, where the car won a first place trophy. Not mine at the time. I have been asked a hundred times if it is a real Z28 because it does not have the spoiler, the cowl hood, and Z28 emblems.

Tony, Very nice car...boy it would be cool to find a '68 Z28 and then have 68 69 70 Z28's. I like the color as well. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Nice that you kept the original plate on the front..if not original it's correct for a 68.

A little Deja Vu on the backround, could have sworn I saw a code 17 70Z from Courtesy Chevy in S.D.sitting on that grass..

Hey Tony, That car is incredible, Can I have it?
You should give Bruce a couple of your Harleys to put up here too. Member rides can also be a cool bike or in your case many cool bikes! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
