I forgot that even you dudes from the sticks of Iowa were still able to pick up WLS. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is a piece from my Chi-Town area dealer memorabilia collection. I know that the scan sucks because it is to small but it is as big as I can get it. Larry Lujack is the good lookin gent in the top row middle spot. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is the back of that piece. Nickey had a HUGE advertising campaign on WLS for years.

Larry Lujack, and Tommy Edwards, have been back on the radio for a while now. AM 1690 from Chicago. I think that he actually talks from his home in New Mexico, though. For the past couple of weeks, he has been broadcasting from Idaho because his mother is ill.

Frank, WLS was what they called a clear channel station. Mega watts of broabcasting power. All the way up to Mi, and down though Missouri. KAAY Little Rock was also. Could pick them up pretty good on a clear cool night. And WLS would also give you the hog, and cattle market from the stock yards. I remember they called them "happy hogs". And just outside the front gate of the stock yards was Mr. Ed's dads realty office. Schonye

US 30 Drag Strip was the first place I ever watched drag racing. I remember begging my parents to take me when I was about 8yrs old. Was only about 15 min. from where my parents live.

September, 1972, my wife (then girlfriend) and I went to visit a friend of mine who was in the Army, stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. One night we all went to the drive in to see a movie and we were able to listen to WLS on the radio in his 69 Super Bee while watching the movie http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif 50,000 watts of clear channel power goes a long way!
