Since Motion1 & Smooth plan on having their Motion Maco there at SCR8, and we now have another very nice one out in California, we (www.MakoShark2.com) are thinking about having a Maco reunion combined with the SCR8 reunion... since it is in middle of the US.

So far, these are the people tenativly planning on going...

So far we are just in the "planning" stages... any thoughts about it?

I like it. A reunion within a reunion. Thats what it's all about anyway. Like this years unofficial Yenko Nova get together. I think its cool..BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Those are some Very Powerful looking Cars!
I wouldn't mind seeing them in Person. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I recently talked to Mr.Rosen, and he remarked to me how much he really enjoyed speaking to us all at the SCR6 Dinner Banquet. He said he thought us being a Yenko crowd,we wouldn't ask him as him many pertinent questions about MOTiON.
Needless to say after 3 hours of him & his Crew responding to us,he knew he was in the right place,& people. He told me he would enjoy a return visit,if need be.

Just Wondering... what are some signs of an original Shark verses a Reproduction Eckler's or Paragon kit?

I have NEVER heard of a Paragon Mako Shark replica. Every time I've heard of an Eckler's Mako replica, it ends up being just a simple tilt front end that has an almost stock appearance.

The Motion Maco has a distinct front & rear. Just look at the Owner's Pages (http://www.makoshark2.com/owners.php) menu at the different sources (Silva, Motion, Bohannon & 1 Geiger) to see the differences.

I think the Kenneth Haines car was just a Eckler's tilt front-end.

Silva is the originator of the Maco body style. The Silva kit was about 13 different pieces. The Motion molds changed that to 2 pieces (the front & the back). The Bohannon mold changed the front dips. I have only seen one Geiger, and it is just very different.

My thought on SCR8 would be that it's a "Supercar Reunion", so i would think any supercar of any kind would be gladly excepted. Yes even mopars http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

The R/W/B AMX's were pretty cool too. I remember reading somewhere that a good number of them were purchased by the then new Domino's Pizza chain as fleet vehicles to be used for making pizza deliveries. I guess the "corporate" color combo was the perfect marketing gimic for Domino's. Anyone know for sure if this is true? http://www.amcwc.com/specialty6.jpg

Not true. If the car in the picture is the one I think it is, it is the only red white and blue AMX to ever leave the plant. It was ordered with the special paint for a give-away contest in Canada. The owner lives in Michigan.

But....there's another red, white and blue car right next to it! Paint kinda looks the same...but in a different order on the carhttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Was that part of the Car Craft S/S give away? Two cars (?) with that reverse paint scheme...

The car on the left looks to be a Javelin. Not sure but different paint stripes at the left rear quarter glass.

[/ QUOTE ] Looks like you're right on with that Paul. I just found my November 2000 issue of MCR and the car in the photo is featured. It's owned by Darryl Salisbury or Portage Michigan. According to the story this AMX was specially ordered with the unique blue/white/red paint scheme to mimick a land speed record 68 AMX that wore the same paint scheme and was originally campaigned for AMC by Lee Breedlove, wife of Craig Breedlove of "Spirit of America" fame. The car was built and was used as a giveaway promotional vehicle for the Labatt's Blue Can Am race at Mosport International Raceway in Ontario Canada on June 1st, 1969. It is suggested that the paint scheme was used to help promote the success of Lee's land speed 68 AMX at a major race like the Mosport Can Am and that fans would likely be privy to the significance of the car and it's unique paint scheme. The article says the car was found in Canada as a 4 owner 140,000 miler and was rescued/restored by the current owner. It's a 290/225 Hurst shifted 4-speed, also radio delete. The stainless chin spolier was a dealer add on. Cool story behind a cool car. Now what about R/W/B Javelins? Were there any of those factory built? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

SK,
Yes, as a matter of fact there were I believe 100 1970 Javelin's painted in R/W/B. In fact if you search Ebay, you can usually find someone selling the magazine ad from back in the day showing a somewhat docile Jav next to the R/W/B.

Check out this site for nearly every AMC ad you can imagine. AMC Ads (http://www.bit.spt.fi/antti-ville.nauha/ads.html) Also, check out the limited production "Raider" Rambler available only at participating dealers in NY and NJ. Seems they may have been a dealer cosmetic add on package. Check out the colors. "Electric Green" "Tangerine" and "Blue You've Never Seen" Kinda neat.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like the body on my Maco is going to require some pretty major work. It doesn't look promising for mine to be at SCR8....but I can't wait to see some of the other awesome Macos that are out there. Just look at www.makoshark2.com. (http://www.makoshark2.com.) Pretty cool site.
