Everybody, here is the news: The NICB said that my car was sold to Berger Chevrolet, shipped June 2, 1969.
No one who has ever looked at my car said that it wasn't a COPO, but at least I now know where it was sold. VIN is N649339, the trim tag was posted last week on COPO USA thread, and attached is a picture of the axle tube.
Tom Clary has looked at my car when he was in Columbus in 2000, and Ed Cunneen has had my VIN for about 9 years.
I sent Rob a bunch of pictures a while ago, asking him if he wanted to make a beater a feature car. Said he think about it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I will have to change my signature now, but that's no problem.
Thanks to the guys on this site who have been so helpful in answering my questions, and sharing information with me so that I could make this announcement.
Please keep up the support. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

OK
This is why they're called 20 footers. The paint job is at least 16 years old, and the original color was LeMans Blue.

Dash. I have a '69 AM radio, but the carrier has to be restored.

Rebuilt motor. It always starts with a leaking oil pan gasket, but the only thing left inside the motor was the crank and 5 of the rods. Everthing else is fresh from the NOS intake to the oil pan, and from the water pump to the transmission. 512 CE motor now .0100 over, and every part is bone stock. The upper radiator hose is in the trunk, and will soon replace tha NAPA hose on there.

The rear end was removed and freshened up with a new Eaton series 4 carrier. The carrier that was inside was not a COPO carrier, but an old series 4. The ring gear was posted a while back, and is dated 569, so it matches the axle and the trim tag.

When I got this car 10 years ago, (which is a whole other story), a restored COPO, WITH DOCUMENTATION, was selling in Hemming for $30-35K. The cost of a full resto would have been more than the car was worth. After 10 years of deffered maintenance, it was time to freshen it up a bit, but since I don't own a truck or trailer, I didn't have it repainted because I like driving it, and don't really have the patience for having it graded like a steer at the state fair. Just my opinion. I have no objection to points judging, but I like to drive. I would be scared to death of driving it if it was totally correct and complete.
I've put about 6,000 miles on it in 10 years, and it still has just under 21K on the clock.
I just can't figure out how I've managed not to blow it up.
