This is a neat car Mike !!!!Thanks for sharing http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

This 48,000 mile candy apple red Shelby GT 350 4 speed was purchased new in 69 at John Grappone Ford in Concord, NH. Grappone Ford is still in business in Bow, NH. I am owner number five. Original documents like the Ford invoice, Shelby American Invoice, dealer order and a partial build sheet are still with the car. This car is also listed in the worldwide Shelby American Automobile Club registry. This Shelby has undergone a complete rotisserie restoration. There are over 200 pictures depicting the restoration that shows the car before during and after. These pictures document every paint daub and marking to be sure they were put back on during reassembly. All sheet metal is original this one never had any rust and the spot welds are all crisp and perfect like they were when new. The fiberglass components are also original and have the raised Shelby part numbers on them as the repos do not. The interior is also all original, except for the Hurst shifter, the previous owner removed the clumsy Ford top loader shifter to avoid missing a quick 2 -3 shift and gave that to me along with the original spark plug wires and a few other items.
I found this car in Vineland, NJ with the help of Don White who graciously gave me the contact information of the owner who was selling it. This being my first Shelby I joined the Shelby American Automobile Club, they had warranty informaton on my car when it was new! It had an oil pressure gauge replaced at 1500 mile, fog lamp replaced at 1828 miles, and the original owner complained of lifter noise at around 3000 miles and Grappone Ford replaced the lifters. I was impressed by the thoroughness and detailed information that they retain on these vehicles. I drove this home from Vineland, NJ to my home in PA and it was a blast to drive. It gave new meaning to "Have you driven a Ford lately" I plan on detailing it more and adding the correct E70-15 Goodyear Speedway 350 tires in the near future.

Top Shelf car Mike! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Seems the GT 500s are in the spotlight more often then the GT 350s and I always wonder why? Clue me in please.

Cubic inches...bet the 350 handles better. Mike bring it by for a test drive so I can report back ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

The GT 350 weighs in at around 2700 lbs. It handles great. I feel it is underated at 290 horse power it runs as hard if not harder then Ram Air III Judges I have owned. A quick calculation puts a GT 350 at around 9.3 lbs per 1 hp. In comparison to RA IV Judge at around 3700 pounds at around 10 lbs per 1 hp. Please do not think that I am saying a Shelby is faster than a IV because not many Shelby's had more then 3.25 gears and IV cars IMO are underated as well.

The GT 500's were more of a brute muscle car as the GT 350's were the Trans Am racing series cars, I have always liked the GT 350's because of their racing heritage, that's not to say I would pass on a nice GT 500. Man, there is not much room to change the spark plugs on a Gt 350, just imagine a 428 wedged between the aprons. All Shelby's have many specific parts that are not found on other Mustangs. Even the leaf springs on Gt 350's and 500's are Shelby specific.

Thanks for the compliments everyone http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob, you are always welcome to a test drive http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

have you actually weighed your Mustang. That seems a little light to me. Without looking it up, I would thing it should be closer to 3200 lbs.

That does seem light, holy cow, with power to weight ratio, I won't be picking on any of them at the dragstrip!

Are you bringing it to the Vargo show?

I double checked my research and it lists the curb weight at 2,723 lbs. I will verify when I get the Ford / Shelby assembly manual and service manuals I just purchased.

Marlin, I will be at Vargo with my car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Mike,
I'd have to disagree with the 2700 lb thing also - but in a most respectful way, of course! If a 69 GT350 weighs 2700 lbs, either my scales are broken or some jack ass filled my Cobra and 65 GT350's frame rails full of molten lead! I think the Cobra scaled out around 2200 lbs, and I can't help but think all that steel, glass, seats, etc. has to weigh more than 500 lbs?

But I am very curious to see what your books say. Let me know and I will double check mine. Books are NEVER wrong, right?

Did you plan on the Shelby party Dec. 3rd yet? And don't let Gags drive your car. The bastard left his phone books on my seat the last time I let him drive mine. And there is still an odd stain in my 64 GTO from when he drove it at the Supercar Reunion. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/BelairSucks.gif

According to the Shelby Registry the 69 GT 350 weighs 3600 lbs. It also lists a GT500 as weighing 3850 lbs.

Charley,
Did you read the footnote about 65 GT350's?

"Big tube headers and large exhaust adds 800 lbs."

Man, I'd HATE to have one of those setups.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif Thanks for the lesson guys. I just got my manuals and it is listed at around 3,600lbs. I meant no misinformation. Being new to Shelby's I looked at only a few internet sites and I should know better than to take internet sites as gospel. I listed one of the sites below that I looked at for info just so you don't think I am totally http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif My main concern when I bought this car was to learn all of the correct part numbers and locations so that I could make an educated decision. Thanks again for the correct information http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

No disprect was intended. I weighed too many cars back in the late 60's at the drags to notice that weight was not right. I just though you had hit the wrong key.

Just got my Marti Report back on my car just sharing some information to show how Ford kept detailed data on their cars and production stats. Sure wish GM did or that they would loosen up and share.

It was 1 0f 40 GT 350's painted Candy Apple Red
31 had Black with red accent bucket seat interiors
29 had the sport deck rear seat
19 had the 3.25 Traction Lok axle
1 of them was shipped to New England, That's my car

If Ford tracked there vehicle's production stats like that sure makes you wonder why GM would'nt have. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Happy Holidays
