View Full Version : For those considering racing at SCR8: PLEASE READ

Just a quick note to those of you racing, and those of you *thinking* of racing, at SCR8...some rough guidelines, but PLEASE speak up if you have any questions or suggestions...

* helmet (must have for cars 13.99 or quicker, but a good idea for EVERYONE...13.99 is tougher than it sounds, so you can still have a LOT of fun without needing a helmet, and if you do start going below 13.99, we could probably find a helmet to lend ya!)
* catch can (we can zip-tie a can for a temporary fix if needed, or you can grab a piece of long rubber hose and route it to your washer bottle)
* dual throttle return springs (easy and cheap to get at parts store)
* make sure your battery is secure
* all wheel studs must be present and lugnuts tight (don't laugh, I've seen it happen)
* no open toed shoes (no sandals), must have long pants (no shorts), minimum short sleeve shirt (no tank tops or cutoff shirts)
* must have working seatbelts
* no passengers quicker than 13.99

Basically the racing portion of the reunion is reserved for the supercars. This will be the only time most owners of these rare cars will chance a pass down the 1/4 mile, so we want to do our best to provide a safe and friendly enviroment in hopes a large number of supercars will participate.

In the past several club members have made passes in non-supercars, which has not created a problem. In fact, got to see some pretty cool cars go down the track. We encourage everyone to make the trek to the track on Friday in their musclecar, even if just to show and spectate.

My guess would be that non-supercars will have a chance to make a pass or 2, but if 500 non-supercars show up to race, the supercars will have preference, as it IS the Supercar Reunion... Rob could probably clear this up, but I have never really seen any problems with non-supercars "taking over" the race portion of the show... now those Deuces on the other hand.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was suprised to see that non super cars will not be allowed to make runs this year I thought last year was quite a break through , In fact I was hoping to match race my daughter, my 68 RT verus her 69 Road Runner that I brought over last year, I guess if we cannot we can at least come and watch. She'd just dust the old man off anyway....

Larry, guess I did not explain myself well. Sorry. As in the past, non-supercars will be allowed to run, especially vintage iron such as yours. We want all club members to bring their muslcecar and participate, we are just trying to avoid Friday turning into an open track day for every race car in the greater St. Louis area. As Camarojoe said, the supercars will get preference (such as the Deuce shootout), but with 7-8 hours of track time available, should be more then enough for everyone. Will, maybe not Shor, Dru and Pete. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

I re-read that first post, and it did read a little funky...Larry, and Steven, and Bruce, and the rest of you knuckleheads come on out Friday! That's the way it was in the past, and I don't foresee it being any different in the future! I know Rusty and some of the other Pure Stock guys are planning on being there as well, so there should be enough racing (and BS'ing! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) for EVERYONE!

We just have to be careful so we don't have every drag car in the tri-state area show up looking for a cheap test'n'tune and you sYc members and extended family/friends get slighted on track time...

FWIW:

If you would really like to pull the best out of yourself and your car on the drag strip, start up a grudge match against someone http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have analyzed the data from the 1/4 mile runs on my car, 20 in all - including the 3 with the old cam. My best data is from the Yenko Deuce Shootout between Frank and myself!

My best reaction time was in Round 1 of elim's against Frankie: .084 (Frankie had a .008 light in Round 3!).

My best 60' ever was in Round 2 against Frankie: 2.290 (Frankie had a 2.277 in Round 2!)

My best 330', 1/8, 1000' were also in Round 2 vs. Frankie.

My best 1/4 ET was in Round 2 vs. Frankie with a 14.537, (Frankies was also in round 2 with a 14.255), and MPH was in Round 1 vs. Frankie with a 97.05mph (Frankie had a 98.72 in round 2).

So, if you are willing to put some pressure on yourself, you might be surprised with your next timeslip - regardless as to who got the win light http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY
08-09-2005, 01:52 AM
I don't recall the exact rpm, but it was around 5500 to 5800 - not as high as you might think! COPOPete says that the magical rpm for this combo is 6000, but I seem to have an itchy shifter-hand and always seem to hit it too early..... just more excuses from the loser http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
