As one of the first to arrive http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif and now first to leave http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif, I can say I had an awesome time yet again. Thanks to the Clarys for organizing a great event, the SCW crew for a great meet and great (and the introduction of what I hope will be an annual tradition - the Super Car Punking), Mo and Andrew for a great day at the track and Marlin for a great presentation on his work as a Yenko "archaeologist".

Special thanks from me to SCW crew, Bob Swezey and the Cumbys for their generosity, to Annie the Witch for everything she does, to Pete Simpson, for hounding me so much I took the ZL-1 down the track, and especially to Barry Coughlin, who rescued me and got me to the airport in time after my crappy, stupid European rental car refused to start. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

It was great to catch up with old and new friends. Many, many pictures to follow...

Just got in from another awesome SCR. It was great seeing everyone again, and I can't wait to do it again next year.

For those of you who thought about coming to the SCR this year and for whatever reason didn't make it...you missed out on a great weekend and you should be kickin' yourself big time. Make plans now to get there next year.

Just got back from my 8th awesome SCR weekend, and just wanted to thank Tom and Rob Clary and everyone else responsible for putting on the big show... Everything was superb, from the thursday afternoon/evening "lot party" to the full day of racing on friday, to the banquet on friday night, to the show on Saturday.... everything was a blast! Congrats to Frankie Magallon for defending his title as the Deuce shootout champion, handily chopping down all competitors and breaking into the 13's with NO tuning or tricks! Marlin the future TV superstar gave a great presentation at the banquet, and Jeff Murphy once again went out of his way to get photos of everyone and everything! Here's a few pics I took this weekend, starting off with the coolest car of the show IMO... LVCamaro's newest acquisition... a totally original 1 owner Yenko Deuce sold new at Dale Chevy in WI. This car was just pulled out of its 35 year slumber a day before SCR and this was its first public showing... totally cool! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Car was located near Cedar Falls, Iowa, where it had been parked in dry storage for well over 25 years. It was purchased from the original owner just ONE day prior to SCR! And if that isn't cool enough, Steve brought him along to SCR to tell the story of buying the car, and answered any questions we could throw at him... A super cool guy willing to share the history of his car with us. He described how he began his search for a high performance car early in 1971 (yes 1971!) and visited several other well known hi-performance dealers before locating this car at Dale, still sitting on the lot in April of 71. He said there were also TWO other Deuces on the lot at the time, one in Cranberry Red and one in Sunflower Yellow. (Take note which color he picked. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif) It was interesting to hear about how many other people have tried to buy the car from him for next to nothing over the years. He also told of how close he came to having the car repainted/taken apart in the early 90's, going so far as to order a new set of Yenko stripes for it (which are still in the trunk!) Luckily, the person he was going to have do the work advised him to let the car remain in its original, unrestored "survivor" condition. I have many more photos of this amazing car if anyone is interested. Aside from a handful of truly "Day-2" mods including traction bars, mag wheels, and headers, the car is original and unmolested. It retains its original numbers matching engine, M21 transmission, and rear axle. Virtually anything that was ever replaced on the car was saved and stashed away, including the original distributor, smog system, and fuel pump. All components, sheet metal, glass, interior, etc. are original. The car currently has just over 22,000 documented miles! IMO, this car alone was worth the trip to SCR. Congrats LV....

I had a wonderful time at SCR8! Beautiful cars and wonderful people. My thanks to everyone who made it happen, I'll definately be back for SCR9! I was only able to make it on Saturday for the show, but would have loved to have been at the track on Friday. Seeing the videos only made me regret missing the dragstrip even more! Heck, even my wife had a great time!

Well..it was awsum again...just got home...I passed by Steve Shauger at the airport early this morning...said goodbye and walke down to my gate....which was of course the very last one..spent my last 1/2 hour in St. Loo BS'ing with Bruce Xplant who was on his way out too.....great time. I had a chance to drive LV's "new" Deuce out of the Gateway Center....I accidently mashed the gas on the way out and that car came unglued !! Very strong running car...I was gonna pull 2nd but I ran outta room !! I'm putting headers on my Deuce ! Thanks to everyone who attended....best bunch of people you could ever hope to meet...except for Lillard, Colin and a few other trouble makers ! I bought a cool book signed by Bob McClurg...we kind of "auctioned" some cool stuff off to donate to the hurricane relief thru Red Cross...well I passed it around the damn table figuring I would let a couple of the losers at my table have a peek...well it came back with a few more "autographs" than it started out with...couldn't figure out why Lillard was peeing his pants laughing...Joe Cheeks tried to warn me but I didn't get it. That damn Cumby is on my list too. I never saw so friggin many Belair62 nametags...all with a slightly different variation on blow up dolls....bastards. Paybacks are a bitch!!! Even that Barnhart guy gave me a rash of sh#t ! Ray Morrison is the coolest guy around...I think me and him are going to sit together next year...and youknow what...I'm sure I can kick Charleys ass...he's pretty scrawny. I'll remember more later...and blast a few more of you dogs... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I see that sight every time I go to work Bud. "If you're on the left-hand side you have a nice view of Mount Rainier." I was hiking up there with the wife and kids on Saturday, as a matter of fact.

I gotta' go to an SCR one of these days. Thanks to all of you who posted your photos! Someone needs to make a DVD for us unfortunates who didn't make it.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

By the way, that's a cap cloud. The mountain causes the moist air mass to flow up and over the peak. The moist air cools as it rises and the water vapor condenses and forms that neat looking cloud.

Colin....I was naked in your GTO....sorry if I was a bit sweaty..next time don't mess with my stuff !!! I beat Charley up after this pic.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey, glad I could help you two lovebirds out. Anytime you need a place to have some "special time" , feel free to use my car. Did you beat Charley up because he got you sweaty?

I just hope nobody did a burnout with the car. I don't think that is very cool.

By the way, my rental car had a terrible vibration on the freeway. Why would that be?

Wow, what else is there to say that has not already been said?! This is sincerely the best group of car guys around! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif The Thursday night welcome wagon was in full swing again. The drags were totally awesome! I finally broke into the 13's running a 13.999 @ 100.61 MPH with a .069 R/T time & a 2.221 60'. I think after running crappy times all afternoon it was that motivation I got from JJ the pure stock racer from Canada who I handed my keys to and he drives the car 5 feet up to the staging lanes and runs a 13.87 right out of the box! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif He has to be one of the most cool headed guys out there! I can't wait for next years drags. I ran a total of 14 times this year and am going to go for 20 times next year!

The car show was cool and what a cool sight it was to see Steve's new bad ass Deuce with it's original owner Moses Long as the ultimate show prop! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The Barr boys had there bad ass memorabilia collection displayed with some of the rarest and finest supercars in existence all under one roof! Once again thanks to the Clarys, JJ from Canada, Marlin for putting on a very informative discussion at the banquet about the Yenko numbers, and to all of my friends that I have met before and all the ones that I have met for the first time. The Yenko Sportscar Club has become a part of my extended family! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in putting this event on. It was a very good time.
Congrats to Frankie on the shootout, and no, I'm not riding around with you in Chicago. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif As always I enjoyed visiting with your dad. He's one of the finest individuals I've ever had the pleasure to know.
Mr Barnhart, you da man. I've never seen anyone pull the heims out of their ladderbars before.
It was a pleasure meeting some new members, Bud, S Sam, and seeing the old crew.
Sam maybe we should kick in for a new hat for bbbenny. One with the chin strap option. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Being the first one that I have been to it was the best! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gifTotally awesome cars.My wife and daughters left me at the car show 2-3 times because I would stop and look at things.I stood and watched Marlins computer slide show a couple of times through when they came back around and asked if I was done yet.My oldest daughter liked Shors Orange/Black Camaro. She was amazed he kept coming back to the staging lanes to run back to back to back.Charlies "Malitude" what a cool car.No exhaust noise until the turbos spool up,then it sounds like a jet,and goes just about as fast. Two rolls of 35mm film yet to be developed.Cant wait til next year!! All I have to say is great job everyone who had a hand in this show.Wringling Bros.& Barnum Bailey dont have the greatest show on earth anymore. The Super Car Reunion now holds that honor in my book. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

WOW...What a fantastic weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many thanks go out to the Rob, Tom, Mo, Andrew, Marlin and many more involved in making the Reunion a success.

Thanks also go to Tom K and the SCW gang for all of their efforts and the surprise.

Without the help of a few Mother Hens; Mr Cumby and Mr Nelson, I would not have even made it to Collinsville after my local four-leggers ate through the plug wires on my truck. Thanks for coming to my rescue and for keeping an eye on the Nova for two days.

Thanks also go to all of those who encouraged me to "race" and to Jeff Murphy and Dennis Cumby for agreeing to run their cars beside me. Maybe next year I will learn how to watch my own lights and avoid red-lighting. Maybe I will even be able to break the 50 MPH mark.......Regardless, I am hooked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best of all was getting together with old friends and meeting lots of new ones!!!!! Much appreciation to those who helped baby-sit me and the NOVA (again) All my thanks to each and every one of you. Is it next year yet??????
