When I pulled in at 9AM,he & his buddy,in a similar Imp., were in front of me on the Highway.I could hear him a 1/2 mile away.
Two nice guys with one Hell of of a fast 409.I thought he ran in the 12's?

I did see the 409 run briefly, it was in the lane next to me. Didn't catch much after I passed him. LOL

Must have run pretty good, I think I ran a 12.1 or so on that pass at 116... it was a fun race, much more challenging than racing Charley - yawn.

Verne I talked to him for a while . He came with a buddy in a Roman red or Honduras maroon (can't remember) , Grey interior 61 Impala with SS trim on it...348/350 4 speed !! The 09 was running low 12's I'm sure but has been in the 11's...lots of real aluminum on the car...he was sorting thru some AFB stuff between runs...it was an automatic.

csx289
09-10-2005, 12:11 AM
If somebody knows the number the 409 had at the Reunion, I can sort through my time slips and see what he ran on the one pass I was next to him on. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to meet the owner or get a name either. Cool car all the way - I think it had Raider wheels also? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Since we pitted just across from him, I talked a bit with him about the cars. Neat cars! Don't recall his name, but he had a "Phil Reed" t-shirt on. I haven't seen Phil in years, but I'll bet if you gave him a call, ole' 409 Phil could put you in touch or give you the low down on the car.

Rick, I was very HAPPY to be a part of the Great "MOTION" display!! It was a good spot and the Motion guys moved their cars over to make room for me. APPRECIATED that. I enjoy coming to the REUNION as my "SON" gets to attend and this year Especially VERY "PROUD" of him for running 11.9 with the MOTION. We were having problems with the HOLLEY 3 barrel and when we got to the motel Jim Johnson tore it apart and made some repairs and assured us that she should be running 11.50's -- maybe next year we will see. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif THANKS to all for the Pictures, we have a video that maybe we can post too. GREAT seeing everyone and the cars!!!

Super pics from one and all....many thanks to each of you for your efforts! Special thanks to Jeff Murphy for allowing me to go side-by-side with him. In his words, we were running the risk of taking out a large percentage of COPO cars in a single pass! Mr Cumby, it was great to run beside you. Thank you for the chance and the encouragement. Big thanks to J. D. too for the great pic and the mention that at one time both cars were sharing space in Dennis' garage. I am sure he was watching and giving us the thumbs up. (right after he smacked me in the back of the head for risking damage to his car that way) Oh well, that is what he gets for leaving me in charge. Red lights included, I had a fantastic day.

Once again, thanks to all for your patience, assistance, pictures and a great weekend! I have to ask one more time....Is it next year yet?!!!??!!??

The pleasure was all mine, my Dear. Of the three passes I made Friday, I was beaten TWICE by GIRLS!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

She is a good kid, but she is real hyper and talks to fast for me. either that or I just listen to slow... The tattoo was a surprise about 7 years ago. She whipped me both times we lined up at the reunion, the deal was she had to win by more than a second counting reaction times. her best 11.55 beat my best 12.58, although I did run 12.30 at monster mopar this past weekend but she went 11.51 there in the heat.
