Any updates on the race? Should be some interesting stuff. I understand yesterday was rained out. Today was a modified schedule for yesterdays misfortune. If anybody gets anything or hears anything please post.

Dad called this morning and said his best time yesterday in the time trials was 14.87 at 94 m.p.h. He did not watch maney races he said. Rob, Pete, how did you do? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Ran a different type program on Saturday due to the rain on Friday, but it worked out "ok", as I got some time to put a tune on our Camaro for the first time in a year...something musta clicked, as it ran a slip-sliding 12.33 @ 115.01! The air was far from killer, so that bent axle we fixed last week musta been holding us back a tad before...stinkin' thing still won't hook, as the crappy 2.0x short times show, but the horsepower now seems to be there. If I could ever hook it, I think it would go .20s or better...http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

JJ and Pete were the #1 and #2 qualifiers (respectively)...JJ was going his usual 11.7s @ 122 and Pete ran a 12.008 @ 116! And lets not forget the newest addition to the Simpson camp, the 454 Monte of Eric and Owen...that stinkin' party barge ran a 13.8 at over 100! Love that Cortez Silver boys...

I talked to Pete today for about 45 min and he said the car is a screeming machine. He feels that if you tidy her up a little that 12.0's are there. Nothing like another winter project for you Robert. I think that if you keep improving like you are that that is just around the corner. If you go too fast you'll have to certify her though.

Jim

Kind of partial to CORTEZ Silver myself.

And the Monte is barely broken in yet! They just drove 400 miles from Glencoe to Stanton and let it all hang out.

Nice MPH by Ken. Is this the same car Ken has been working on for ever? Got the power! He just needs to make it stick! Like so many other people that elusive 60 foot time is some where out there. NICE Pics.

Not sure, my small block car weighed 3280 with my lith figure behind the wheel last year, this year it weighed 3982 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

I was first off once the rain stopped, I am guessing after two Vettes tipped in at 4000 pounds they might have figured our the scales were waterlogged.........

Well, I guess it is time to pipe in. I have been lurking for quite a while but since this thread has touched base on my car, its time to speak up. The car ran a best et of 12.59 against Benoit Holloway in his gorgeous LS6 Chevelle. My best MPH was 112.88. The last time the car was on the scales it weighed 3605 lbs. with driver. 60' times are usually about 2.0 seconds where my ets typically land in the 12.6-12.7 range. The 12.59 run saw a 1.97 60'. Attempting to drop my short times is my next plan of attack.

Ken, no wonder you wanted to run me, you were gonna chop my head off. I liked you better with your 14 sec. Pontiac. Seriously though, that's some respectable performance from that thing, congratulations.

Thanks Rob.

I was just fun'n with ya Steve. Your car did very well for the first time at the pure stocks. I have a hunch that it was wrenched on right up until it was driven to the starting line.
My car started out running 13.2's and 3's when I first started running it. The basic engine has not changed one bit since then but there has been lots of tuning and some gearing changes in between.

Good thing I didn't try to weigh mine. It was 3909 with me last year when the scales worked well. I'd be up there with that party barge from Canada!

Robbed the videos below from a fellow over at the Mopar site, so they're heavy on the Pentastar stuff, but he got Pete and JJ on there...the last link with Benoit's LS6 burnout is WICKED COOL...for those that don't know, Benoit does that before EVERY pass!

Uploading speeds are not good.
I am using a wireless dsl connection with fair luck.
Fiber Optic Line, land cable/DSL should be the best bet.

The short movies are a pretty good example of the weekend. They don't show the commeradery or the brawls but just go to to your local tavern for that. Once again, it's the "Canadian Connection" and Robert Clary keeping the Bowtie faith in check. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
