I just returned from the Rod Run and seen #51 at the show at the Grand Motel. I talked to Shawn at Camaro Central and he said the guy that owns it bought it from the original owner and there was an interesting story behind the car but he was so busy he could'nt get into any details. Are there any stories about it on the web or this site? You thought you were back in the 70's looking at it and all the old racing stickers and paperwork on the car. I remember a Johnny ? owns it. I was just wanting to know a little history about it.
Thanks,
Bryan

This was our 9th year going. There was a lot less people there than usual. I guess the gas prices really hurts events like this. We bought a 69 camaro back in the spring with intentions on driving it but with 3.73 gears it would have been expensive. Not a lot of hot rods out cruising but we will be back next year.

I just got home about 45 minutes ago from Pigeon Forge. This was my first time attending a cruise there. There were lots of nice cars there. I heard estimates between 4 and 5,000. I think half were Camaros, Novas and Chevelles. I will post pictures later.

We must have been at a different show!LOL. No place to park, and people everywhere. Absolutely gridlock where I was at.
I wish I had known y'all were in town, we had a get together here at my place Saturday night with about 60 people from different boards I visit. Sorry guys! Also, anytime you come, I have 7acres about a block from the parkway that we park cars, trucks, and trailers on. Free to any member here if you need a place to hide a vehicle or two.

Bill, I live in Maryville, and the road in from Wears Valley was backed up forever, I was surprised the large number of people that did show up, even the back streets had cars all over, mostly for sale, does the paper ever get facts, and figures on the show?. The show itself didn't have as many cars, like in the spring, but the streets were full from were I was. Hope to met you, and the othrer guys in the Spring Show, April 21-22-23. ....Kasey http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

If the spring show is bigger, where are they going to put everyone? With all the traffic it took 1 1/2 to 2 hours to cruise from one end of the strip to the other and back. It's probably 10 miles round trip.

I thought about going to Floyd Garrett's again but didn't feel like a 3 hour 15 mile drive.
James

Kasey, Did you have your car there?

Kasey,
The show itself may have been smaller, I have gotten to where I never go to the Grand anyway, too much on the strip. If you know Gary Neff in Maryville, go by his shop and check out my GTO.
James,
There are back roads that save many hours during the weekend. PM me next time you come this way. I will hook you up. I promise I can get you from the Grand to Floyd's and back in less than 45 minutes.

I got back this afternoon. Seems like many Camaros and Chevelles were there....I would guess 40-50% of the cars on the strip were for sale!
Didn't make it to the Grand, but it took me about 5 hours to walk from light 4 down to 10, and back to 1.

There were some nice cars at the Grand but not enough to warrant a $10 admission fee. There were probably 150 cars in the actually show at the Grand and about 5000 up and down the strip that you could see for free. I spend most of my time between lights 4 and 8. I left for home at about 11:30 this morning to miss the traffic that would be leaving later.

James, I did'nt have my car this year, I have had my Pace Car featured inside 2 year ago, it was on the Tn.-Fla football weekend, playing here, never seen so much orange and white, I'd made a fortune in picture concessions..I'll be taking my corvair in the spring, I'll be inside, hope to see you all...Kasey
