there is an 1969 brown copo on camaros http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif.net it states in the ad ed c. certified and also it is not a re-body,i thought you guys might like to check it out.

That's my car & it's awesome-the color's terrific (resto by a fellow member). It's also $25K less than any other copo on the market. Just replaced the Cragars & M/T's with Goodyear F-70-14's(thanks Brian H), steelies & dog dish caps(thanks budnate).

-------The Sox and Martin 68 Hemi Cuda on this site used to belong to Dale Smith of OEM Glass fame. I raced Ronnie in this car with "Red Alert" at Quaker City. They gave me A half sec and Ronnie stood the car on the back bumper. I probably shouldnt have won, but did!!!! He didnt like it a bit. Sorry for the highjack........Bill S

The car's not at Chip's place yet. Hopefully there by Friday & maybe pics by next week. I've been mildly scolded for not posting pics by some who've seen the car but I'm just not into computers. Perhaps one of the moderators could post a new technical thread on how to post pictures. Jude.. when you finish typing the text for your post you scroll down and click the box that says "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file " then click continue. Then the next page will say "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 101000 bytes please). " click on the word "browse" That will let you look for the photo you want to upload that is somewhere on your computer. When you find the pic, double click it and the pic name will now be in that window next to browse. Then click "OK submit" and it will upload the pic. If the pic is too big it will tell you and we will have to go to plan B.

Roger...post the pic as a attachment. When you click on the attachment and the pic shows up, click the text in the browser at the top of the screen. Then right click it and select copy. Then close the pic and go back to the post and click on edit. Click on the end of your text like you are going to type more but then look down and to the right and click on "Image". Another box will open and in that box you right click and then select paste. That should drop the text coding of your pic into that box. Then click OK. Then scroll down and select "change this post"

Just get a Photobucket or similar free or cheap account...upload your pics to the account....open the pic in the account and copy and paste the IMG file directly to your text post...no need to hit the image button that way...cheap and simple..

This car appears to have had a pretty hard life. The orig owner day2'd it immediately & raced it in Ohio & West Va. We even found a reciept for a speeding ticket under the dash (3/23/70). If you'd seen it the way I found it...I guess I'm lucky that the cowl tag was still there.

Jude, is there any other documentation besides Ed C's certification? Any owner history or paper at all? Have you been able to get any vintage pics? Who restored the car?

There's a photo of a notorized document, signed 4/21/91 from the original owner to the 5th owner. I recently spoke with him & he reconfirmed what he bought so, I have no reason to doubt his word or the document he signed. He also told me that he day2'd it immediately w/ M&H slicks, headers, T Bars & Cragars and raced it on the track & street. Ed looked it over 6 yrs later(6/23/97) & doc'd it. I also spoke w/ C.K. Spurlock who owned the Van Nuys BBrown COPO as he woked for Roger Dean for many years but, paper from the dealership doesn't exhist. Coincidently, I was talking to Joe Cheek at SCR7- he owns the Dusk Blue Roger Dean COPO, and someone at the show was there from W.Va. and remembered seeing a Brown COPO lined up with some other COPO Camaros outside the dealership in'69. Can't say for sure if it's this one but how many brown COPO's could have been sold there?
The 3rd owner sent me a pic that he had. I haven't been able to reach the 2nd, 4th & 5th owners.
My good friends in Donahue, Ia. did a great job restoring it, so I just sent them my favorite Supercar to restore -my Rallye Green Yenko Camaro, X-11, 4 spd...sold at Yenko. Can't wait to see it when it's done http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

At this years GM Nationals at Carlisle there was a burnished brown double copo. I was only able to get a quick look at it on Friday; didn't see it anywhere Saturday or Sunday. That car was absolutely gorgeous. I regret not taking any pictures of it when I saw it.

While looking through the February issue of Cars and Parts I found that burnished brown double COPO that was at Carlisle. It is scheduled to be at this years Barrett Jackson auction (Scottsdale) along with 4 other musclecars in the current owner's collection. It can be found on BJ's '07 auction inventory list. Awesome car, awesome color!

The Brown COPO that you speak of is at B-J Scottsdale now. Lot 1268.1. Just saw it again this morning.
It was last owned by my friend in North Canton Ohio.For what it is worth I believe it to be a # match drive train. I saw the engine stamps while the motor was out and they looked good. However there was never any paper on the car when he had it.
If anyone is over that way check out the "original window sticker". The car is inside.

I judged this car in Bowtie class at Carlisle. Very nice restoration but I never saw any documention with the car. Owner did state that Jerry M. certified that car. In my opinion the stripes were painted to far a part. It was a top restoration.

Your correct about the stripes, to far apart, do not end square like they should, and the quarter panel stripe should start even with the bottom edge of the quarter gills and they are about 2" high.
The stripes were added after the last chacge of hands, all they had to do is check a assembly manual for the dimentions

That's funny because I asked him specifically why the stripes were like that and he said the person who did the restoration used the stripes on the old fenders as a guide. Stated that they were like that originally from the factory. I knew they weren't.

Total BS, I know the shop that painted the car and they and my buddy who last owned the car never got around to the stripes.
The original fenders are still in my friends storage and I even got some shots of the stripe for my own referance. And they are very close to what is in the assy manual.
I am not at home so I cant post a picture, had the new buyer actually seen the old stripes they would never messed up that bad. Truth be known, most guys looking at that car over at the B-J Auction do not know any differance !
All in all the car is a stand tall, quality, #'s Double COPO, we just are not sure where the car came from. For a long time it was thought the car my have come from Canton, based on stories of guys remembering such a car around town.
Also Rick, do you remember the guys name that was with the car at Carlisle ?
On a side note, upside down cowl induction seals and Ford "Caution Fan Decals" are running about 2 to 1 over at Barrett Jackson. Amatures ! Sorry it is one of my peeves.

I knew they were wrong and I didn't buy his story either. Bowtie is NOT where this car should have been judged. Bowtie is for correctness but not the level as Vintage or Legend. Bowtie checks for correct color, interior and other parts of the car based on the trim tag. Also if the owner states it a certain car, SS, RS, etc. we check the engine stamp to ensure it's correct for the car. There are a lot more other areas as well.

I would not use Bowtie judging as a basis for validating this car for resale. For the money this car will bring that should have been validated at a higher level.

I don't remember the owners name but do know that he was very defensive when it came to certain questions regarding the pedigree of the vehicle.

And again, I never saw any paperwork to back up the car. I'm not saying the car isn't because what we checked said it was a COPO. Never saw a window sticker either. Hmm.

I fell the same about Caution Fan stickers as I do about rear spoilers on 1967 Camaros. They don't belong there.

The original motor for the brown double Copo N665765 was for sale in Hemmings years ago. Obviously it made it back with the body. Mike, how long did Don C. own the car?
