Well my good luck streak has continued on for yet another week

Last week out of the blue the COPO sold and the week before My COBRA sold,
but I kept the 428 Cobra Jet Engine out of the car. So, I post on the site
here about the news of the COPO finding a new home and that I was now back
on a Shelby hunt.

Low and behold, longtime and valued forum member , Bill
Pritchard , of Aurora Illinois contacts me. It seems that 18 years ago his
brother in law acquired a rolling basket case 67 GT500. He also procured
the complete owner history... as Illinois was so kind back then to provide
you with all vehicle title copies of your cars previous owners. All the way back to
Jack Loftus Ford in Hinsdale Illinois. This car was a leftover as
it was sold in February of 1968. It remained in Illinois right on up until
November 17, 2005. Yes, that is the day that I liberated it from the frozen
tundra of Illinois Now during that 18 year span of ownership, the car received much
attention. Back then sheet metal was available through Ford and that is
what he did. Bill took the Engine to a great machine shop out there and
had the engine tweaked in every fashion possible. But it was a stop and
start project and took way too long, and eventually the owner lost
interest.

Fortunately that happened at the same time I was searching I
drove 850 Miles out to Aurora through rain, sleet and snow to get this pony
in my stable. Meeting Bill and his family was a warm experience and they
were very kind to me and my step father (who got roped into the ride with
me). It will be fun putting the finishing touches on the car through the
winter... and I look forward to many miles of cruising fun in my big block
Factory Dual Quad Shelby

VERY cool Dave. A friend of mine bought a 67 Shelby NEW from Jack Loftus Ford. His was also a green 67 that he has vintage pics of. He does not know what ever became of the car though.

I myself owned an original 69 Mach 1 Mustang that I bought from its 30 year owner that was sold new at Jack Loftus as well. I will send the pics to Bruce for him to post as they are cool because one even shows the original dealer decal! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Milobrook Ford was also a Chicago area Shelby dealer.

As a matter of interest Jack Loftus sold his dealer in 1981 and it became Willowbrook Ford where I worked for a year and a half.

[/ QUOTE ]The first Owner was William and Alice Koenig. and I must state that the Pictures of the Car in Beat up condition are from 1987. that is How Bill's Brother in Law got the Car. I got the car in the condition it is shown in the Painted Pretty pics!! I do however have it up on Jack Stands, Cragars are off and Original 10 Spokes are going Back on amongst a list of Winter time activity I have planned before the Spring time unveiling...! the Car is Shelby number #3115. Built on 6/28/67, 33 days behind Schedule!! Got to love these Marti Reports! for those that are unaware of the Head light situation, these cars originally had two Head lights mounted in the center of the grille. California was the first DMV to cry foul folowed by several other States. Shelby moved the Lights on cars going to those states to the Outside edge of the Grille. Thus the term Outboards and the others are called Inboards. also My car and any other Outboard Shelby car has a Thin "Z" stamped before the VIN on the Shelby Tag as well. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif So where is the Jack Loftus Memorobilia I am certain you have retained?? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Milo Brooke, INC./ CHICAGO, University FORD in Champaign and Sexton FORD in Moline were the Other SHELBY/FORD Dealers in Illinois. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Really nice looking car! What a restoration!
Whats the difference in ride between a Ford BB and a Chevy BB?

A guy down the street from me just finished selling off his Shelby collection. He sold two 1967 GT350s, 1967 GT500, 1968 GT500, 1969 GT350 (all coupes) for a 2005 Ford GT and 2005 Z06. I have dated photographs of all cars but we do not talk for personal reasons.

Very nice car, and now when you go to your annual Shelby picnic there won't be anyone smirking at the site of a COPO.

Goodluck

[/ QUOTE ]The difference with FORD big Blocks usually is that FORD was not big in Performance Rear Gear Ratios. This car in particular has 3.00 One legger from the factory. so they can be sluggish from the start on Stock vehicles. They are full of Torque and have amazing Horsepower Potential. They still have a Huge Aftermarket following which is incredible considering the fact that These engines have not been made by FORD in 36 years! I am contemplating heavily on putting the 428 out of my old COBRA in here as That engine puts out close to 500HP on Pump gas and it's just sitting on a stand in the garage anyway.....! As for your neighbor, I'd be picking his trash if he lived down the street from me! Like him or not!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Dave, great to see that you made enough money flipping your #3 condition COPO for the Cobra. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Looks like there was enough left over for you to to put the finishing touches on a sweet looking ride. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Those dual quads will make the COPO look like an economy car when you get your foot into it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Yep, there we are....freezing our butts off http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif I felt really bad for Dave and his step father - they left Philly on Wednesday morning and it was 72 degrees. They drove until the wee hours Thursday morning, sleep a few winks, wake up to meet me and it's 12 degrees http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

I'm very happy the car has found a great new owner who's taking excellent care of it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif It was my pleasure to meet both Dave and his step father and see the car off to its new home http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
