The owner and driver is Pierre St-Pierre.This is a COPO Camaro.Denis Pépin auto was a Chevrolet dealership in Québec city and ordered the COPO Camaro for mister St-Pierre who also was is main sponsor. Before the Camaro mister St-Pierre owned a 1967 Chevelle with a 396 And Denis Pépin auto was also the main sponsor. He raced mainly in the north east.He got all is parts directly from GM.He sold the Camaro a long time ago.My last meeting with mister St-Pierre was about three weeks ago.

i know this car, i was the engine builder of this car at the time, and later Pierre st-pierre sold it to me for $1500.00 in 1972-73, this car has been ordered as a B/SA from GM, the winter snow coumpound option was on it, i did blueprint the engine and i found that it was a 12.5/1 compression ratio and that there was a L-88 camshaft in it, we shiffed this engine at 8200 RPM, Denis Pépin received the car keys by mail at the time. i do not know if this car can be calculate as a regular copo.

12.5/1 eh... a little higher than L72. And of course the cam was differant. So i'm wondering if it was still ordered using the Copo process with these anomilies specified?.....

Well, at the time,as a B/SA ,the record NHRA was 11.74 on the 1/4 mile and it ran 11.76 e.t.

Interesting story. Even though this was a Canadian ordered and sold Camaro, remember that the BB engines were still all built at the Tonawanda Plant and the cars themselves built in Norwood Ohio.

It would make more sense that the ordering dealership installed an L88 Long / short block to suit the specific application.
