I have seen reference to COPO cars that where not the normal COPO. I have seen the article on the COPO wagon. Was there other COPOs available, El Caminos, Caprice, Impala, Ect.

I think the converse is true...the hi-performance COPO cars were not the "normal" COPOs...taxi cabs, pickups, fleet vehicles, etc...those were the bread and butter COPO cars.

I have a 70 Biscayne that was ordered as a Fire Chiefs car, Complete police package, 140 Certified speedo with a special set of gauges for oil, amps, temp in the opening for the clock, 12 bolt posi, F40, Hd cooling,350 Hp Police eng. The neat part is the hand written Copo paper indiciating the order, Red 75 with a gold interior, rubber mat front ,carpet rear, etc. I have the p-o-p and its still in original paint Very neat !!! Also from the same town in Nevada I have a 71 Biscayne LS-3 Police package car . It has again a handritten Copo sheet with 402 Police Hd engine , Special double cast pulleys for double belts on the alt, 4 Core Hd cooling, TH 400, Hd suspension with Wagon Big bolt wheels etc. The speedo is also 140 with a set of gauges under the dash. Both are matching number cars that I rescuded from a small town south of Lake tahoe along with 4 other twins to the 71 4 years back. The fire cheifs car is really cool because You could not get a gold interior in a Red Biscayne. Coming to The Power tour soon with lights blazing !!!

WOW...they sound like very cool cars Jim, especially the '70!!! .

Back to that old question, why didn't Chevy offer the Biscayne or Bel-Air in 2-Door Post cars for 1970 when the cars were basically retrimed '69's anyway? .

Agreed, some cool cars!

Also, my friend Matt sent this to me:
Well up here in Canada, 1970 only GM made around 2,000
or so 2-door HARDTOP "budget" cars, either biscaynes or bel airs. It's not widely known or published. Why? I have to assume they had a surplus of bodies or something...

Sounds interesting Kurt...any more you can you can find out on this would be appreciated! .

Without the 2 Dr. Posts available for 1970, I can understand the need for stripper cars based on the hardtops...but to badge them Bel-Airs and Biscaynes...really? .

We cheapskate Canadians had Biscaynes in production to I believe 1975 also Bel-Airs to 1981...when did US production end for these model names? .
