For Sale. 1980 Camaro Z28 5.7L 350 4sp Dark blue metallic with deluxe blue interior.

Unrestored original true survivor with 26,2XX miles
This car has 75% of its original paint (matching is excellent) No accidents, paint was done for cosmetics (sun fade)
All drive train is ORIGINAL and runs like a top. Interior is original including carpet. The original owner had a custom dash pad cover so the dash pad is showroom. Plastic seatbelt guides are the only sign of sun fade. Also door panel carpet, which is typical for those to fade before the carpet. (see pics)

Condition is excellent!! No rust aside from scale on undercarriage and engine components. Floors are perfect! (photo) This car drives like a new car, there is not a squeak or a rattle anywhere. It is amazing. No door sag or any of the tell tail signs of high mileage or abuse. I had known restoration expert, Mike Flaherty, of custom designs look at the car and help with removal of the front seat to recover original build sheet. He was extremely impressed with this cars condition and originality.
Engine compartment is untouched aside from conditioning of rubber by me and the installation of new valve cover gaskets and power steering hose by Westech of Silver lake, WI. (I address all leaks and drivability issues when I get a new baby!)
Still has all factory markings etc including sticker on air cleaner. Even the hoses to the perfectly operating air induction system are original. Battery is not.

The Story. This car was ordered new by the original owner from Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista CA.
Because the gentleman was a car guy he wanted the 350 and the 4sd. However, in CA you were limited to the 305 and an automatic. He wisely ordered the car the way he wanted it and had it delivered to Courtesy Chevrolet in Medford Oregon. This is all confirmed with the Original build sheet as well as the original dealer order form! After enjoying the car for a few years, while keeping the mileage low and the condition high, he put it away for his son. When the son was offered the car he passed to join the ranks of the rice burning youth. The car was eventually sold to the second owner, a car nut and cop in New Jersey. After a short period this second owner came upon a corvette he had to have and I became the third owner in the spring of 2006. I bought this car because I had an 80 with a V6 and an automatic in high school and always wanted this Z28 setup. Since I have had the car it has been treated like all my babies and stored in my climate controlled facility and had the few issues mentioned above handled. I now have purchased a 70 Z28 and am one over my capacity for properly keeping cars. So it is with much regret that I am selling. I will say it again This car drives like new!

Documentation: Professionally restored original build sheet. Humidified, and deacidified at a cost of $250 (photo docs of removal of build sheet) Second owner accidentally ripped half of it out from under the seat while checking the car for belongings before being shipped to me. Original dealer order form. Both original documents contain the cars options as well as its vin. Original manual and original 80 Camaro brochure (mint). Copy of second owners title and contact info.

What is not correct or original: As stated before battery is a replacement. Windshield was replace by second owner due to a chip in transit. Power antenna is missing its motor. (Ebay) Stripes were redone by second owner and as discussed above some paint work was done by the original owner for cosmetics. (very hard to tell!) Current radio is a nice pioneer am/fm cd as well as modern speakers. Install is clean and not hacked. (photo) This car came with U80 dual rear speakers and the package tray has been replaced correctly. As for the original radio this car was ordered with the first year and ultra rare UY8 digital radio. I have the original radio and knobs still with it’s GM delco sticker (photo) How rare was it? 0.2% of all 152,005 Camaros built which gives you the extrapolated number of 90 of the 45,137 Z28s (per NastyZ28.com). Missing original GM mats currently matching carpet mats. (Ebay) Car currently sits on the optional N90 wheels and BF Goodrich tires. The car did not come with this option, however I have all four original wheels with tires that of course go to the new owner. Both sets!

Obvious Flaws: Nickel size ding in beltline crease of drivers door. Hole in original carpet at the heal position of the drivers side. (very common as people rested their heal there and the factory did not install the carpet well leaving an air pocket that is commonly pierced by the drivers resting heal.)

Thanks Mike! Yea, t-tops meant two things leaks/rust and cowl shake. This guy ordered this car to carve canyon roads!

I forgot the original exhaust is gone, replaced with flowmasters. Nice original sounding exhaust note.
I also should have put it in that i will listen to reasonable offers.

thanks,

JOHN

Reminds me of High School. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif It is easier to get shoe prints off of T-tops than it is headliner http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I will leave it at that. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

This car came without factory A/C. I remember talking to my local chevy dealer about ordering a Z/28 when I was in high school back then. They would not consider ordering a car for me without A/C unless I gave them a very big non refundable deposit because these cars were sell proof with out it.

You know, that's really a neat car. No T-top, no A/C and a 350 4-speed. Brings back high school memories for me also. Now where are my Journey and REO Speedwagon casette tapes?

My buddy got one of those as a gift for his 16th birthday. We had alot of fun cruising in that car! It sure could hug those corners on the back road.

Just a note if you did not see, the car sold on ebay for 16,500. I think the guy got a deal, he likes to buy and sell these cars so he put it back out on ebay at a higher price.
Thanks to those who inquired.

So, Why let it go for $16,500. on ebay and ask $22,000. on here. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I would imagine that after offering it here, then putting it on ebay and not having it approach $20K, he decided it was time to let it go. I take no offense, I could have bidded on the auction (which he gave a polite heads-up to).

[/ QUOTE ]That was my starting ask. I got no inquiries or offers. So I put it on ebay with a 16,500 reserve as that was my bottom line after not generating interest at 22. I was open to offers and got a couple after i put it on ebay, but chose to let the auction run. If i put it here first, what is the problem. Someone could have bid 16,600 on ebay and got it. After offering it here at the number i wanted and getting no offers I would say it is my right to put it at auction and let it run. If i offer here it my bottom line, don't i lose my opportunity to sell it for more on ebay.

John

PS i turned down 18, so my desire to let it run cost me 1500
