The only COPO for a 68 Camaro is a 9737...the Sports Car Conversion.....

I'm under the impression that the only COPO 9737's in 68 went to Yenko. (the secret was not out, yet) 69 is a different story.

As for the possibility of a COPO 9561 Z/28.....no COPO 9561 in 68, so that's out. Kind of a misnomer, even for 69. a bb/sb? It couldn't be both; it had to be one or the other.

In 68,Yenko, Dana, Nickey, B/M, etc were still transplanting motors, so it's possible a 68 Z/28 could have been retrofitted with an L72 motor.

Does COPO E2or E4 have any significance here?

Thanks all for your insights. Is it possible that an LA built '68 camaro ( (Build date 04-68) could have an original dealer transplanted 427/425 (Build date 02-03-68)? Car has z28 badging, and 2nd owner represents it's a DANA car ...

DANA did do some work on the Z28s they sold but as far as dropping in 427s into them I dont have any recorded. I only know of a couple that were supertuned by them.

E2, E3, and E4 are listed in GM literature. E3 being the '68 COPO Chevy IIs.

Great info. thanks. Wondering if there's such a thing as a '68 Camaro - dealer installed 427 VIN list, and/or a DANA registry. If current owner is asked for unrecovered documentation still possible in the car, where would I suggest he look?

Grateful to the group for their help. You guys rock!

Don't think that there is a DANA registry...

If no pics, see if he can lay a description of the tag itself on you...not just the car specific stampings..
