Every Kansas built 69 or 70 Chevelle SS I have seen has a L on the trim tag. I know this isnt fact but every one I look at has the L

It's built exactly how I'd want it, minus the console.

But I'm partial to triple black 69's.

All I know is that black with a black vinyl top looks awesome. I wouldn't throw it out of my garage.

Very nice! What size tires are they? I love the bigs and littles look with the rallys. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

The one I picked up does have an L on the Trim Tag. Wheels are 15x10 SS Wheels.

If the L on the trim tag is is always there on SS cars can we assume the car being talked about has a fake tag and is possibly a fake ? Does anyone know of a documented Kansas built SS without the L on the tag ?

I picked the car up too flip it. But I think I might keep it.Pretty nice car,was Restored about 10 years ago. Has a 454 destroked to a 427,M-21 and 3:31 posi. The guy said it ran 13.6 at 105 spinning the tires thru first and second gears. It appears to have been a 396 turbo 400 and 3:07 non posi originally.Black with black buckets, Driver Side Remote Mirror,Factory Power Windows and Tilt. Tires are 295-50-15 on Vintique 15x10 with 5 and 1/2 backspacing. Nice car, really solid. Thanks.

My black 69 SS 396 that i just sold was a Kansas built car with the "L" on the trim tag as well. Guy says he has a partial build sheet...ill just guess and say it probably is missing the cars VIN on it!

I just ran into an gentleman driving a triple black 69 SS396 325 horse car, pretty worn but all original. Got him to pull over and found that he had purchased the car new in 69 for $3495.00, told me he wanted the 375 horse but his dad would not sign for the big horses. Anyway, looked at the trim tag, sure enough KAN with the L just like all I have seen.

All Kansas built cars had the L on the trim tag if they were a factory Super Sport equipped car! I have owned several documented one's and they all had the L and i researched a few others that also had the L.
This car was for sale in Ohio a few years back at a dealership also.

New trim tag rivets for sure, with solid centers. At least they could have slopped some seam putty in the holes http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sweet looking car, sinister look W/O the side stripes. I like it.
If I were selling a car with some Doc's, I would surley be posting some real good shots of the said paperwork http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I think that's too presumptuous a statement to make http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif There is a thread on the Chevelle website that's been going on for well over a year now, where people with Kansas built 69 Chevelles have been posting whether or not their car has the 'L' on the TT. While I have not read every post on that thread, I believe it is a fairly accurate summation to say that most all *known* Kansas built 69 Chevelle SS 396's have the 'L' on the TT. The key thing here is how many cars are truly *known* to be an original SS396......there are just an awful lot of good fakes and too many people with enough knowledge to be dangerous out there to really be able to make a definitive statement on this 'L' thing.
