Abe - you are completely missing the point http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif . When is the last time you put a pair of T McAnns on your tired dogs http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ? You do that then we'll hear what you have to say. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

P.S. Just spoke to my cousin in Landisville yesterday. They own Snavely Lumber. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Sam, I have no idea what it was like in Scottsdale yesterday but I'm sure your relatives can confirm it was better than we had here. Steady, cold rain by the bucket load. . .remind me again why I live here. Maybe that's why I enjoy the Pavilions photos so much! You're in a great spot for sure. My family and I really like Scottsdale. We've tried a few places around town but The Phoenician is at the top of our list!

Man, you guys are killing me . . . but hey, enough about my misery.

I'm no expert, but is this car really worth anywhere near that kind of money? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Last time I checked, 850 large was a big chunk of change. "Rare" or limited numbers doesn't always translate to valuable.

Those inner fenders were an option on those cars and I believe an expensive one if I recall correctly. A fella I knew had a 66 goat that had those and they were listed on the build sheet I believe...

If you tilt your head (or your monitor) sideways when viewing the GTO eBay ad, it looks like a $26.33 option on the window sticker. I've never seen them on a GTO before, either. I learn something new every day. I guess I can mentally shut down for the day now. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

whats in that hole? it looks like rust.
And what's up with the trim tag? I wouldn't ask this if it were a $29,500 GTO

I tried to find a Tom McAn shoe store in the big shopping hell last week, none around. Did they tank http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I'm sure it's just to advertise it and gage interest.850k is kind of silly. And yes Thom McAn is gone. I used to by my PRFC's from them.

Anybody know what the highest price paid for a GTO is?
Im not sure but im thinking it was less then $850k. Might have been that low mileage red 70 RAIV Judge vert? I dont think this car qualifys as a all time top dollor GTO. Its rare and seems like a pretty nice resto but...

Red fenders were a rare option, but included if you got a 400 HO. It is typically the first thing you look for on an HO car. And yes the HO was a hotter version of the 400.

As far as price, he's close............to being on crack.

Red fender liners were never a part for a HO car. Has nothing to do with it. They are a very rare option. Only 1% of GTO'S had them. I do agree on the price. It could have been bought for a little over 100k last fall. I thought that was too much!! GO FIGURE

Cool car but the price a faint hope... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif???.

And the guy should state 2 'known' existing, not simply 2 existing..

I wonder if anyone up here won one of these from the Canadian division of Tom McCan shoes?.

Whatever the guy reaches, it may be worth trying to run the before and after sequential Vins through PHS looking for more?.

Lastly, is it truly clear where/when the Hood Tach was installed...could these jackpot cars be the first ever factory installed units?.

GTO DON is right on about the liners. Johnny HP is right about the crack!

This is a nice car but I too passed on it last year after doing a little research. It is not a special car other than given away by Thom McAnn - and the big problem there is that they gave away a BUNCH of them. It is not a 1 of 1 car, more like a 1 of 16 as I recall. And just a GTO, not built by Pontiac Engineering or sent to Royal etc. The winners could order their car from any dealer nationwide and order any options they wanted up to a certain maximum msrp. This winner just happened to order a great combo (HO/ 4 speed/ red liners).

This dealer (Napoli?) is the same place that bought the nice automatic 69 T/A and Banshee concept car at B-J last year or the year before and has advertsied the T/A for $650k or so and the Banshee for $2.5 million (sold at B-J for around $250k). The Thom McAnn car just sold at Mecum in Florida. Not anywhere near $850k http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, and glad I wasn't the only guy who noticed the rusty crossmember http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I believe factory hood tach installations started in Feb/Mar '67. This car is way to early...but it does look like the correct 1st style tall version tach.

Why does Pontiac call the color Coronado Gold ( Tiger Gold ) and the GTO assoction Signet Gold ???

Signet Gold was an available color in 1967 paint code 'G'.Tiger Gold was an extra cost special paint. The colors are close, but Tiger Gold has a lighter green tone. Coronado Gold was a standard production color paint code 'O' on Firebird models only in 1967. Different name but same color.

There's a buncha' PF Flyer fun to be had on YouTube...like this Johnny Quest clip..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sqqn54uQn0

Regardless of the high price on this Goat, I still haven't seen anything definate that these Tom McCan specially prepared units couldn't have been the first factory installed Hood Tach cars...yes they seem too early by build date and why I questioned it previously..

Let's see,
I'm from New England,
The car is being sold through Napoli Classics in CT. (the e-bay seller)
I don't know, but I would not pick there as a place to look for a car of this or any caliber. Sorry, I have visited thier showroom many many times, and left each time severely dissapointed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
