Were people stronger back then? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I just wonder because of the overwhelming majority of non-power steering cars out there. Neat car anyway!

What is the story with the car? I know you mentioned it is a one owner car but how the heck did it stay so nice?? Dad bought it and preserved it as his pride and joy???

Really fine looking LS6!

Alright guys, let me hear your opinion on this Stamp

This is a BENCHMARK car. Everything original but the tires and upper radiator hose

Hard to tell from a pic but the 1 looks like its pretty high on the pad to have been stamped with a holder with the head on especially with the protruding head plug right above it . Pictures do have a way of making things seem not as they are though.

I will get that picture too. I have people sending pics of there Original motors that have been hit twice.
The bellhousing bolts and mounts have never been touched..

So far three calls came in and said its fine !!

I think the deck is stamped with the assy date before the heads are installed so that looks good. As far as the VIN stamp, I had an L-78 block from an 69 Nova that was stamped once, X'd out, and restamped again.

The engine plant stamp (assembly plant, assembly date and engine code) was done with heads off on big blocks so there would be no head/plug stamping interference. I have seen stamping partially obstructed by the head. The VIN was obviously done with the head on.

Small blocks were plant stamped with head installed.

Survivors should RULE but everybody's perception of Survivor is out of control.

Love the repaint and engine redone and the same sentence as a Survivor.

To many cars with a lot of issues out therte !!!

I know the owner of this car very well. He has nothing but the best examples of the cars he loves.

Here's your Trans Stamp !!

I think it probably is the original stamping. It looks like there are some broach marks under the rust on the engine. With the amount of surface rust on the engine it would have had to been stamped a long time ago. The digits look real close between the engine and trans of coarse they would be more deeper and look a little wider in the trans since its aluminum

Stamped upside down. Same as my Arlington car.

The 5'th digit '1' appears to have been a slightly longer piece in the gang and the resulting deeper hit on both is a good sign too!.

The reason I have been going on about this car is I have been told that the motor doesnt look good. I thought this car would make a killer benchmark car to come out !!
I dont want to rep a car that isnt what it is and this is why I showed this site these stampings and lots of phone calls..
Its not even about the sale of this car, just hope it turns out to be true survivor.
Just seems like the car will have a question mark on the stamping if its ever taken to a National show.

I just wanted to get the consensus here http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Sorry for the wording earlier !!
