cc/Albia police dept
Officer in charge
Please be advised that a gentleman known as Kim Howie was observed performing unsafe acts on the streets of Albia, on 7/14/ 08. He also may have been intoxicated, and may have been driving impared. Was also heard yelling something about"the damn thing runs" and threatening someone named Barnhart with "blowing his doors off". Please forward this to homeland security as it sounds like some kind of a terrorist threat.
Should you take Mr. Howie into custody, I would suggest a mental compatency evaluation, and a deep body cavity search by someone named Helga.
Should a gentleman named Cumby try to post his bail, I'd suggest you arrest him also, if for no other reason than just breathing.
Thank you for your attention, and help in keeping Albia, and America safe.
Sincerly, Ken L. Schoenthaler
Mayor of Donahue

Mayor Brown, we will be attending the show, and request to be parked beside our good friend Mr. Howie. Perhaps I should request that he be parked beside us, as his arrival time is usually a little later in the morning/early afternoon, depending on the activities of the night before. I would also ask for additional personal, including EMT, or paramedic level individuals should Mr. Howie's car have unloading issues, and unload itself. (again)
Best wishes to you, and yours, and we'll be seeing you soon.

Just give the poor guy a cold beer, point him to the closest shade tree, and we'll take care of the cars!

Mayor B, I don't think you should feel Big Headed at all. If anything you should have nothing but Pride in all you folks have accomplished.
The Monmouth/LaHarpe weekend has become one of our "Must Do" events every year, and it's not just the cars and the shows, but the people!
Ask ANYONE who has attended, and continue to return every year. As for Howie, well,.....I guess he's one of the necessary evils we endure. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif And Schonye,........... I ain't even going there. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Everyone knows we love these guys, otherwise we wouldn't hammer on them like we do; and it's ALWAYS a treat to be in their presence. Then you throw in the likes of the Barnharts, Ray Morrison, Annie and Rick, the Gibb Ladies, Herbie, You and Anita, Jerry and Cathy, Bob and Nancy, Tom and Diana and the somewhat newcomers of the Stowers', the Tibors, Darren and family, and on and on; it's kinda like a family reunion except with people you really like! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We can rant about this event all day but until you come see it for yourself and meet these folks you'll never really understand. It really is like 'coming home'.

If coming from KC or points SW, Keokuk or Fort Madison would work. If coming from NW, Davenport (Quad Cities). Only bridge between Quad Cities and Burlington is Muscatine - about 50 miles north of Burlington (US34).
So, if coming across US 34 in Iowa, Fort Madison is still best. Drop down off US 34 at Mt. Pleasant on Hwy 27, take exit 19 at Donnellson and follow IA2 east 15 miles to the bridge.
By the way, it's a draw bridge so you could have to wait 15-30 minutes if it's open.........
