1970 Camaro RS Z28 All Born-With Drivetrain 69,900 Miles Classic Copper Sandalwood

Hi guys,

Although not formally for sale with 350+ photos and the hour of video like I normally do, I've had many inquiries about my '70 RS Z that's been seen in photos of other vehicles. The bonus with a car like this is it's never been offered for sale publicly, and it'd be fun to do some of the detailing on it yourself. Ownership docs go back to the early '90s.

If someone here has interest, I'm asking $69,900 for the car. Shows 69,900 miles,RS Z28, LT1, M21 close ratio 4-speed, and 3.73 Posi rear. This one has early 90's single stage driver-quality paint in its original color combo of Classic Copper & white stripes. Sandalwood standard interior. All born-with drivetrain, smog pump intact, and a nice set of Polyglas tires on this cool, cool Z. The interior looks unrestored, minus the carpet. Did Sandalwood interiors come with a black dash?

No other docs with this one, other than a clear Wisconsin title. I put about 150 miles on this car this fall before the roads were salted. It's a fun, fun driver that could use some tinkering after sitting the better part of 10-15 years or so.

I had a number of folks inquire about the car, so I thought I'd snap a few photos of the important items, and put it out here. The car is located in Mazomanie, WI 53560 and will be sold through my small dealership, Buy Gone LLC.

Nice car and really like the Classic Copper w/Sandlewood. I'm pretty certain the dash should also be sandlewood as well and not black. Also it doesn't look like the metal part of the dash is painted anti glare textured flat black from the picture. Also, wood grain instrument cluster, but non-woodgrain console shift plate.

I noticed there is not a "Z" on the trim tag just "28.10" which is consistent with my 04B car and this anomaly is well established during that time frame that the "Z" was missing from the Norwood trim tags.

One difference versus my 04B built car is you have the partial VIN stamped on the engine pad whereas my car has the partial VIN on the side of the block near the bellhousing.

Overall, a very nice looking car. GLWS

Nice looking original car.

Yes...A sandalwood interior would have come with a matching dash pad.

I kinda have a soft spot for those Classic Copper Z's. ;)

According to the trim tag it should have a white vinyl top. Does anybody know who the original selling dealer was? Thanks, jeff

Tidmack 12-02-2022 06:16 PM

Unfortunately, none of my paperwork has dealer info. I didn't realize the A on the trim tag was the color code for a vinyl top. Your post made me do a bit of research...I learned something new today! Damn, I think this car would look COOL with a white top.

I believe that the interior trim group with wood grain came on the dash and horn shroud. If you had deluxe interior you got the dash , horn shroud and the shifter plate in wood grain. Shifter plate wood grain was deluxe interior only.

I appreciate your reply, and willingness to share this knowledge. Thank you!

Beautiful car! I thought Norwood VIN's were stamped down by the oil filter on 1970 model Camaro's. Van Nuys were stamped on the deck pad.
