Nice bike. A buddy of mine has a beautiful low mile survivor 1966 shovel-head FLH that I often drool over. I've owned and built a few high horsepower hot rod baggers over the years but gave up riding them a few years ago.

GLWS of that beautiful Pan Shovel

Thanks. I'm giving it up too. Where I live has become so over populated with folks who don't pay attention it is just too risky. Sold my 50 in the Spring, delivering my 90 to the new owner this morning and have the 65 for sale. Kinda costly experiment to relive my youth at about a $10k loss over 2 years. Don't tell my wife....

Key words: "folks who don't pay attention"

It is a shame how dangerous the roads are these days. I believe the only reason fatalities aren't much worse is the amount of safety built into the modern car. Doesn't help much if you are on two wheels. Like you guys, I love to ride, but gave it up. Between the hafl blind elderly and the texting kids (and their mothers!!!!) it just isn't safe.

Very nice bike Mark. Wow, $9k to paint a bike. I remember when $9k was the upper end for a good paint job on a restored car.

Thanks Lynn. You have to see the paint in person to really appreciate the quality. Hi-if paints are very difficult to get right and John is the man for vintage Harley paint.

I rode for 10 years straight in the 90's and had virtually no close calls. Now, every time I go out some idiot almost hits me! Texting and cell phones have made it crazy out there.

I can appreciate the issues with people not paying attention and am waffling this year as to whether to give up riding.
But, I commute to work, in the Niagara Peninsula and really enjoy my rides to and from work.
I'll wait and see how enthusiastic I am to get back on it, next spring.

Re: 1965 FLH

Last September I was driving my Mom home from Oakville and just coming off of the 407 onto the QEW at Burlington when a car hit the left rumble strip and over corrected (probably texting). He hit a bike from behind and sent the poor guy over his car. I swerved just in time to miss running him over. As I passed, he was trying to lift up his head (wearing a full face helmet). I have not been as confident since seeing that...

That's a great bike. I can totally see Elvis riding one just like that. GLWS.
My wife said no more bikes until the kid is grown up as my friend's brother just died last night when someone pulled a left right in front of him, even had his helmet on and riding the speed limit.
