SoCal is on fire...again.

Any of you SoCal guys affected?

After watching news of the fires up by Ventura, there's now one that started late morning about an hour from us. They call it the Lilac fire...4 hours old, 500+ acres burned, 0% contained and still raging.

I don't smell anything yet, but two local high schools have closed early due to poor air quality. This one is freakin' me out a little.

Stay safe SoCal.

Yeah Chick. Smoke, ash, evacuations around. I work in Burbank and the winds have been kicking ash under doors and around windows into the office. I have a coworker who had to move his horses twice so far. I don't know anybody that has lost anything yet. We're keeping our fingers crossed. Traffic has been worse with traffic being rerouted due to closures. Traffic lights have been knocked out, and I've experienced power brown outs at home but haven't lost power. They're saying the winds are supposed to kick up again tonight. I hope not.

Prayers for all affected. I saw the pics online and it looks crazy scary.

The latest fire (Lilac Fire) burned right up to my old house in Bonsall. We know a few folks that lost their houses last night. Glad I am in Tennessee now for more reasons than one!

Yikes... those winds fuelling the fire are relentless. Praying for better conditions and your safety. Take care!

Checked the news this morning, looks like things didn't change much overnight. Still at 4,100 acres and 0% containment. Voluntary evac zones are now inside the northern border of my city. We live on the southern border. There's an expressway between us and the southern edge of the fire so we'll see if that slows things down. Still can't see/smell smoke which is fine by me.

Yup those Santa Ana winds really help accelerate a fire. They blow in from the east, dropping the humidity and raising temps. Probably be this way for most of the week they say.

Here was my view from work a few days ago when it all started.

A layer of dust and ash blown into our office.
