Correct 1969 chevelle alternator

Hey everybody. Quick question. My chevelle is a V8 A/C car built on the fourth week of January 69. Staring to buy period correct parts for it when I can. For restoring purposes. My research tells me the alternator I want to get is the correct part number 61amp alternator. It has 9A20 stamped date code. That puts it at the 4th week of January. Same week my car was assembled. Wondering if this would be ok or if it needs to be a little earlier dated. Part number is 1100843. Which I’m sure is correct. It is rebuilt. They want 85$ all together. Any advice/info is appreciated.

Thanks

I would say your best date would be 2 weeks to 8 weeks before assembly date. It also could depend on the build/assembly date of your motor.
So the date on the alternator is probably too late for your car, and I'm no expert on stamps but that looks like it could have been scratched off and re-stamped below.

That is no re-stamp....just screw driver markers from tightening the Alternator.

So what do you think Dan. Little to late for my car. Date code wise?

NOT LATE. I would use it....you will be fine.

I'd aim more for the build date of your engine, not the car.
I'd pass on it for that reason alone,if not for those hack marks too.
These alternators are plentiful, you can find better.

I'd use it but keep looking for an earlier version. The stars would have to align to make that date work with your tag.

These alternators pop up pretty often. Another will come along before too long.

Phil Woj.

PS. My 69 Malibu shows a 63 Amp alternator on the build sheet. I have never even seen one yet. So I'm running a 61 Amp.

Just did a quick search, and because the one you showed has hack marks, here's a December 30th 1968 1100843 w/hack marks for $10 more, that might better fit your engines assembly date.
