Do you have any info on this car or any new pictures? In 6 years, it must be done or close, right? Must be a truly beautiful car if I can ever find a picture of it after restoration.

I tried to PM you but whenever I sent you one, it was like it never happened. I'd get no response and I'd check my "sent" box and nothing was there. ???

Thank you for your time.

These photos were I believe taken in July 2015. As you can see there has been no restoration.

The above Black 1972 T/A is one of a handful of special order paint T/As built in 1972. Some of the others are:

No - your eyes are not decieving you. That's a White Pearl 1972 SD-455 TA complete with "screaming chicken" on the hood - built as a show car by GM Design. Car is now in private hands.

Built for the President of the SCCA

Recently unveiled at a MCACN show (2016??)

There is supposed to be a Silver 1972 T/A though no one seems to know anything about it.

Hey Lee, the page that contains those photos claims to have not been updated since 2006. And he does reply to emails sent to:

Gabe Gonzalez

I guess those pictures to be take a long time ago. What is your source that those pictures are actually new?

Thank you and I really appreciate your help.

9999, all apologies, I do not sign in as much as I used to. I was alerted to this thread by other members, and am just catching up now.

I do not have any more info on the black 72 Trans Am.

There were a few special order Trans Ams (as Lee pointed out). One of the things that's difficult to determine with these cars is the actual color the car was painted. Typically these cars just have a "1" for a paint code on the invoice. Without a build sheet, it's hard to determine what that special paint color was. In the case of the Adriatic Blue Trans Am, Pontiac used the color code "D", which was an RPO color on the 1972 Firebird (but not the Trans Am). In other cases, such as the Starlight Black 1970 Formula featured in Smoke Signals, the invoice code is "1" and the trim tag shows "- -" for a paint code. Starlight Black was not available on the 1970 Firebird line, which meant that it was truly a special paint car.

There was also a special order black 1973 Trans Am.

I really appreciate the special clarification, Mike. Even more info I NEVER heard of: Black 1970 firebird and SD-455! Wowza.

Thanks again.

That 1970 Formula is really an unusual car. Special ordered in Starlight Black, the buyer did not order power steering, power brakes, or a radio. Also not chosen was any type of optional wheel or wheel covers, so the car received dog dishes (which look pretty cool on a black Formula). It was also ordered with the M21 4-speed Close Ratio, so it received 3.73 gears.

Can you confirm what Lee said above, that the newer pictures of the 1972 Black T/A were taken in 2015? Do you know of any updates with that car?

Here is the article I got the photos from:

I haven't had any contact with the owner for several years. I assume it's like Lee said, no progress has been made.
