Are you asking about partial VIN or the production date stamping on Muncies?

The partial VIN decoding methodology is identical to partial VIN on engine blocks. Based on the plant code of the partial VIN it is sometimes possible to tell what model car an orphan Muncie was originally installed.

For instance a "W" in the partial VIN would indicate the Muncie trans was originally installed in a Nova as the Willow Run plant manufactured Novas.
